The F-35 was 'designed precisely' to fight and win in the kind of war happening in Ukraine, former test pilot says

F-35s have been flying missions in stealth mode near Ukraine's borders, though it's not clear if they were conducting regular patrols to deter Russia or using their electronic capabilities to monitor forces in and around Ukraine.

Nevertheless, their presence so close to the conflict zone has had an impact, according to Flynn.

Having that jet flying along NATO's eastern flank "is a significant deterrent" against Russian forces "continuing their ambitions to push further eastward. Because the F-35 represent an extraordinary lethal threat," Flynn said.

The F-35's "capacity to neutralize the enemy cannot be matched by any other airplane that flies in anybody else's air force," Flynn said. "So just the fact that the F-35s are there scares everybody on the other side."

The F35 has a radar cross section the size of a bumblebee.

All of west Ukraine is wide open to neighboring countries and will remain that way unless there is WWIII.

*edit* Definitely need to be cruisin' our ships through the area (in 3 wk intervals).

Not exactly. But all could be used that way. Would the Ukrainians stop at the end of their borders? I doubt all would at this point. If I thought supplying jets, tanks, and ships wouldn't almost immediately escalate the war to one of the allied neighbors, I'd be all for it. Like I said, a stifling "defensive" posture from Ukraine is the smart move at this juncture IMO.

If Pootin' really has lost his mind, we need to stall WWIII for as long as we can (or until we can properly move our troops into surrounding allied nations - which we currently are). And yes, that means Ukraine must suffer some if Russia plans on staying the course.

The Allied countries' main focus (besides resupplying Ukraine) MUST be to try and prevent Pootin' from uniting and energizing the citizenry a la Hitler. We've got to successfully run interference on his propaganda efforts.

Sure, if you want to starve your troops and civilians to death.

All that will do is delay, until they have starved themselves to death. Once surrounded there will be no way to resupply individual cities with life sustaining supplies. Putin doesn't even need to attack or lose many troops; just surround his desired city, cutting off supply routes, and sit back and wait.

If we're gonna roll tanks and jets up in there, we may as well do the job ourselves as that's what it will look like to the Ruskies. If we give them enough AA and drones, a trip into major Ukrainian cities is gonna feel like walking into a buzz saw. Sometimes the best offense is a good defense. How much is Pootin' willing to sacrifice?

I think the U.S. (and the rest of the free world) need to really go all out on educating the citizens of Russia. They are still widely misinformed. Short wave radio, OTA television channels, Wi-Fi, or whatever else can be beamed into their country. I suspect all the dead Russians being shipped back home are being used for maximum propagandistic effect by their sick bastard leader.

ussia has sent a formal letter to the U.S. warning that shipments of sensitive weapons from the United States and NATO were exacerbating tensions in Ukraine and could lead to “unpredictable consequences,”
