You could always move to Rosarita Beach, Ensenada or Tijuana. And you can always pay the cops off down there so you can do what you want, even if it is against the law. Better yet, just go down there for the holidays and bring lots of cash with you. Book a room at the Hilton or Mariott, if you're into social distancing (they are operating at 50% capacity, even in Costa Rica from what i understand), or if you think you're lucky, you can find a local hotel and take your chances. I bet they have a lot of good restaurants down there.....at least they did when I took trips down there about 20 years ago.

I guess you are one of those cafeteria republicans who pick and choose which laws they want to follow while piously saying they believe in law and order....smh.

It may not be long before we are like Rosarita Beach, Ensenada or Tijuana. Or worse Caracas Venezuela, and other Third World Countries, if the Democrats continue on their pathway toward Authoritarianism and Socialism. , in every third world country, Pelosi and others like her are still wealthy. The Elites and ruling classes, exist everywhere and in all countries.

I keep hoping that the elites and Hollywood types who think that this country is immoral will move as they have threatened to before they take us down to the level of Havana Cuba.

Isn't it crazy that this insidious, alien virus took the standard protocol for treating "dangerously" low oxygen saturation and turned it into an avenue for speeding death? The whole world was shitting themselves over a lack of ventilators when what would have saved thousands of lives would have been a lack of them. Just a simple oxygen canister, a mask, and a lawn chair (in the prone position), w/ some 'roids, Vit. D, zinc, and aspirin thrown in for good measure.

Remember when Italy was flooded and they had to send patients outside "to their doom" with only oxygen and chairs while the "better prospects" got the vents inside? I wonder how many of those folk survived that didn't get the "luxury" of a vent.
For the record, this also happened in Central and South America (including Mexico).

              FIFY.

By the way, there have been a lot of right-wing dictators (or pseudo-dictators) that have run Latin American countries into the ground, such as Fujimori (Peru), Pinochet (Chile), Ivan Duque Marquez (Current president of Columbia).

The Somoza family in Nicaragua is a good example of this in Central America.

So I take it you will be following these rules then right? Thanksgiving and Christmas outdoors? Gonna put the ole tree out side this year and open all the presents outside. Make sure you have a 6 foot long stick so you can pass the presents to each other. Oh, and don't serve that traditional cabbage dish or you will have a fight for which one person can go to the bathroom and then you have to take 30 minutes to sanitize said bathroom afterwards. And, be sure to tell that third child or aunt / uncle / grandma that they can't join this year because you are only allowed to have 3 households max. Better buy a big table to make sure every one is 6 feet apart. And good luck passing around the mashed potatoes with a 6 foot pole. And we are apparently going to kill the environment with all of those disposable plates and cups. Eat fast and open those presents fast because you only have two hours.

By the way, it's not a law so not sure what the hell you are talking about with the cute little attempt at a zing there.

All of this for a virus that 45% of people have no symptoms, 80% have mild symptoms, and less than 3% of people die from (with the VAST majority of those being elderly or with severe pre-existing conditions).

                • We can't let the "cure" be worse than the virus.

This brief explores mental health and substance use during, and prior to, the COVID-19 pandemic. We highlight populations that were more likely to experience worse mental health and substance use outcomes during the pandemic and discuss some innovations in the delivery of services.

The COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting economic recession have negatively affected many people’s mental health and created new barriers for people already suffering from mental illness and substance use disorders. In a KFF Tracking Poll conducted in mid-July, 53% of adults in the United States reported that their mental health has been negatively impacted due to worry and stress over the coronavirus. This is significantly higher than the 32% reported in March, the first time this question was included in KFF polling. Many adults are also reporting specific negative impacts on their mental health and wellbeing, such as difficulty sleeping (36%) or eating (32%), increases in alcohol consumption or substance use (12%), and worsening chronic conditions (12%), due to worry and stress over the coronavirus. As the pandemic wears on, ongoing and necessary public health measures expose many people to experiencing situations linked to poor mental health outcomes, such as isolation and job loss.
A broad body of research links social isolation and loneliness to both poor mental and physical health. Former U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy has brought attention to the widespread experience of loneliness as a public health concern in itself, pointing to its association with reduced lifespan and greater risk of both mental and physical illnesses (Dr. Murthy serves on the KFF Board of Trustees). Additionally, studies of the psychological impact of quarantine during other disease outbreaks indicate such quarantines can lead to negative mental health outcomes. There is particular concern about suicidal ideation during this time, as isolation is a risk factor for suicide.

Well if you want to call AOC, and her squad Right Wing, go ahead. BLM leaders like Cullors , Bernie, and AOC, have gone to Venezuela and Cuba, and espoused the pohsitives of their countries. Trump hasn't done anything that you say.

So are you doing Thanksgiving and Christmas with your family or with a bunch of friends? I may have two people (perhaps a third who is not in my household) who are in a group I have associated with since the pandemic started. I have shrunk my social circle and don't do large gatherings.

The latinos where I live had big family gatherings for Memorial Day, which resulted in a huge spike of the virus and ended up with hundreds of deaths (literally). That did not happen on the 4th of July nor did it happen on Labor Day. The latin culture (I think you are latin) like to have big gatherings around the holidays. Two of the people in my group are latinos (or latinas), one was a doc for 40 years in South America. He's pretty careful about what he does and does not go outside his bubble. He mostly talks on the phone to friends and family and watches Exatlon (when he isn't working on his part-time job).

So I only have three people I associate with and do not social distance nor wear a mask. Everyone else gets 'the treatment'. They're coming over for Thanksgiving. I hate this crap, I do not know very many people where I live and do not have the opportunity to associate due to the pandemic. Most of the time I'm here by myself.

I know you think these measures are a little draconian (and I would tend to agree), but we had several thousand people travel to Corpus/Port Aransas for Memorial Day and it drove a big outbreak down there. Our community leaders reminded everyone on the run-up to the 4th and Labor day about what happened. It's pretty dumb for families to gather 30-40 people in a park for a holiday during a pandemic, so this is the consequence of people not taking personal responsibility for their behaviors.

Also note all the problems they had in Beverly Hills (remember the party of 150 where they cut the power and water off?). Cali is a big state. If you are responsible, I feel for you, but it's goof-balls like that instagram influencer that had the party tha cause this problem.

Governments have to sometimes do one-size-fits all policies because of the size of the state and the general stupidity of people. I am not a fan, but in this case, it might be a good idea.

P.S. I can't visit my grandkids in person right now because my daughter teaches special needs kids, which means she has been in the classroom since August. I don't like that, either, but my constitution is strong enough I can survive this for the good of the entire group.

No, Trump never said he would refuse to leave power, absentee voting was bad and that the election was rigged. What planet are you on, anyway? Seems like you don't think critically.

                        • I am doing exactly as we normally would. Family gathering at my in-laws. Probably 20ish family members. Dinner as usual inside, presents, using the bathroom as we normally would (which a bathroom should always be sanitized anyway). Anyone who is old or at risk can choose to stay home if they please. I refuse to let fear rule my life. It's about being smart and logical, not overreacting and creating more problems than the virus itself causes.

On a day of giving, you've chosen the selfish route. How poignant.

Be heartened, you are not alone. And this is why America will make history this fateful winter season.

I would wish you luck but... ehh... **** it. You get what you deserve.

Not selfish at all. King Newsom's ruling from on high is the self-serving part.

And, I don't wish you well or luck at all.

And,, unlike you, I am not afraid of a virus that is mild to 80% of the people that get it and in my health and age range that is probably more like 95%. Same with anyone who I will be around during the holidays.
