Not necessarily true. A friend and associate of mine, who is a consultant and lives in Jersey is having the kind of Thanksgiving party you are planning. Jersey's gov if Phil Murphy. Oh, and he's a Republican.
He said to me F*** Phil Murphy, I'm having my family (all 18) over for Thanksgiving. Tell me if that sounds familiar....I bet it does.
I'm glad I am locked down these days. I had to laugh my butt off, but I would not go over there for his dinner (even though I bet it would be good). And when this is over with, I'm going up there and visiting him, because I think he's a great guy.

Ironically, but some of those same people think that Gregg's treatment of recruits was perfectly fine ('survival of the fittest mentality'), while on the other hand playing the mental illness card as a hedge to flout advice from infectious disease specialists.
I get your point, but I hope you're not one of those people. That would be a little inconsistent.
By the way, nice to see you back here again.

I've been holding back on making those comments for awhile. It gets a little tiresome hearing people kvetch about having to lock down and using the mental illness argument to support behaving in an irresponsible manner (like not wearing masks, not social distancing and so forth).

Lockdowns are the new virtue signal apparently. And I say virtue signal because all those advocating for them know that they will more than likely suffer no adverse financial impact, educational experience for them or their children, or any other major life altering implications ("Except not dying!!!" -- lockdown advocate).
So, for those advocating lockdowns, please tell me what you are prepared to sacrifice to the altar and god of the almighty lockdown in order to rid the world of the evil Covid."When life hands you lemons, make lemonade." Better have some sugar and water too, or else your lemonade will suck!

My school system cancelled classes next week and are going 100% virtual for the remainder of the semester. We called the local Catholic school, which is not part of the school system and has continued to stay open. They are accepting no new students for the remainder of the school year. Looks like the wife and I will be homeschooling in the evenings because they are doing next to no education.
When I broke the news to my 12 year old he said, “ We’re going to die in this house, aren’t we.”Livin the dream

Ummm... the pandemic is real brother. Forget the Covid deaths and long-term complications for a moment. Our healthcare system, if it manages to address the needs of all the citizenry over the next 4 months, will be like a jumbo jet trying to belly land on a shortened runway with no engines running.

The threat of seeing something unfold - the likes of nothing you could have ever imagined - is very real.
My question is for those that advocate a lockdown, what significant sacrifice to their lives are they willing to make in order to save the country from this virus?
That's all. I made no judgement otherwise or tried to downplay the significance whatsoever."When life hands you lemons, make lemonade." Better have some sugar and water too, or else your lemonade will suck!

Since I was her caregiver, I had to quarantine for 2 weeks after she was over the virus. My kids quarantined for 2 weeks from school and avoided me for 3 weeks after my wife tested positive. The virus is real. End. Why is your reaction to my question to lump me into some pseudo denial group so that you can avoid my question?

A normal person would respect the situation and follow the guidelines. They wouldn't cry about their liberty, or their inconvenience.
The pandemic... is real.
