I've heard that if you're willing to take an afternoon and make 1 call to set it up, heading east 45-90 minutes you can be literally anyone (no age, gender, sexual orientation, job, health or otherwise restrictions) and get a vaccine shot. Anyone here tried that route?

That may just barely include me. :P

I've heard of a few far out routes, but the thought of having to make the journey twice has always dissuaded me. It was also first come first serve when I checked into it. That would be a bummer to get turned away. Next week should be a green light for anybody coming in contact with others in the normal course of their work or having hypertension, obesity (lol), breathing disorders such as asthma (even slight), etc. You might even be able to get vaccinated from your car, if for example, your 'knee hurts'... ;)

I will have to admit, this story has me taken aback a little. I thought it was Onion material.

Something has certainly changed on the issue w/ the CDC. I know not whether it is new-science-based or a "correction" due to the prior administration's meddling which famously infiltrated the highly regarded health organization and sterilized all guidance that ran contrary to their political agenda.

If we found out that very young children were just as likely to spread the virus as adults (and it's been known all along)... that would be VERY disturbing news indeed.

I'm a fan of all kinds of regulations that promote an orderly and safe society. Would you believe that it used to be legal in America to settle a dispute in the street via shootout? Other prior LiBeRtiEs that have been revoked: Cocaine and meth use(Personal decision that doesn't harm others), drunk driving (Arbitrary rules to decide what is and isn't drunk driving), marital rape (Rape infringes upon someone else's liberties), child labor/abuse (Abuse infringes on another's liberties), forced castrations (Infringes on another), lobotomies (Infringes on another), slavery (Infringes on another), murder, etc.(Infringes on another)

I'm also a big fan of conscientious and personally responsible behavior. A once in a lifetime pandemic requires a considerable amount of both.(False, personal decisions and responsibility trump "protecting others" arbitrarily and not based on any science. Science shows that bars and restaurants are not a problem when it comes to spreading the virus, and restricting the ability of businesses and people to survive and earn a living for political theater should not be tolerated, let alone praised by others.

Mask mandates(shouldn't be tolerated), enforced quarantines(of non infected people should not be tolerated), contact tracing(not an issue), and indiscriminate testing is a reasonable governance action in the face of potentially millions of deaths and trillions of economic instability(governmental actions have led to more deaths and much more economic instability than the virus ever would have caused on its own). In fact, a government foregoing the aforementioned measures is derelict IMO (which should be abundantly clear by this point to all with eyes to see and ears to hear). Covid-19 had to be looked at as a national security threat comparable to a foreign invasion(laughable) at the onset w/ potential civil uprisings(more likely with government overreach), wanton violence, healthcare system collapse(was never a real threat), and the resulting massive death, homelessness, and starvation to follow. People really don't understand how precarious an orderly civilization is. It only takes a spark in the right situation to have a huge mess on your hands.
