Again, limiting infection opportunities is not just about the one individual, it's multi-dimensional and plays out over a near-limitless range of scenarios. The one constant truth is, limit the spread by any reasonable means necessary. If age demographics were self-contained then it would be a different story. But the reality is, all ages mingle, with the young taking care of the old.

And it's reasonable to assume that there are many more pro athletes who've stayed very quiet on their recoveries as it could absolutely affect their future earnings. Nevertheless, the young contribute to the pandemic's overall harm to society by rapidly spreading the virus through their wide social contacts. It's really never been about their own personal safety, even though a slight risk still exists with. what. we. currently. know.
If endocarditis was a problem in the NFL, NBA, NCAA, or MLB, there is no way the PLAYERS UNIONS and media wouldn’t be all over it. It’s more likely that players were warned ahead of time by team trainers of these studies and the dangers associated with the substances.

These issues were being discussed last July and August already, and medical experts said to take pics of hearts and study them after Covid is found, and don’t allow players to participate until endocarditis has been ruled out.

    • Viruses cause endocarditis too...as does bacterial infections. This isn’t something I worry about with my kids. I would wager football, by design, is more dangerous to young athletes than Covid or any long term effects thereof.

But the NCAA, NFL, etc. are closely monitoring the effects of this on their athletes. The Unions have to be requiring that because their clients they represent.

Like how they closely monitored the effects of concussion?

I would not be looking to any organization (NCAA, NFL or a Union) to be looking at my best interests. They are only looking out for their own interests.

People will twist themselves over COVID into knots for years instead of the just acknowledging that everything we did in the beginning was wrong, all the “experts” lied to you, and we slaughtered America’s small businesses for nothing more than lining Amazon’s pockets.

If I may be allowed to make this idiot momentarily useful...

I 100% agree! We should have had a nationwide shutdown for 8 weeks, followed by a national mask mandate and a fully-funded, nationalized testing, contact tracing, and quarantine enforcement program - coordinating with local assets - but absolutely, positively led from the top.

I mean... it's what all the successful countries did.

I said nothing in my post about endocarditis. There are a vast array of post-infection effects. I 100% guarantee you that there are many pro athletes that don't "feel right" who've kept their lips tightly shut. A large percentage of Covid Syndrome issues do not show up in a scan. Many are neurological.

My advice remains the same: Do NOT get infected by this insidious, alien virus! Get your vaccine at the first opportunity!

National Emergencies and a temporary cessation of some liberty have precedent in our nation's past. Hundreds of thousands of young men have been sent off to die in wars they didn't start without their consent.

An 8 week national shutdown to save (at the time) potentially millions of lives is called apples and oranges.

Over a hundred countries had full or partial shutdowns. The countries that suffered the least BOTH ECONOMICALLY AND PHYSICALLY instituted very strict shutdowns, quarantines, and mask mandates.

We looked like total asshole retards during the Pandemic. A laughing stock led by a laughing stock of a president.

As much as it pains me to say it, had Hillary been president, we'd have sailed right through this pandemic w/ half the deaths and half the incompetency which lead to such confusion in the Republican party.

P.S. America was just about the least successful country on the planet over the last 12 months. We were positively 3rd worldish. FREEEEEEEEEEEEDOM!!!1111 'MERICA!!!!11111

The concussion problems have been going on for 50 years and the players have the attention of the owners now. I was involved in a minor fashion on the research on helmets that were being investigated on all players (high school through NFL) of all ages in the late 80s and early 90s. Helmets have come a long way and you know not what you talk about. If you’re looking for an activity that is totally safe, don’t ride a bike, or drive a car. Football can be a dangerous game to 1/Million, but is safe for most and virtually all players, high school and above. I would have no qualms if my son chooses to play football.

Totally different from the Covid crisis that came from China. There are a lot of Scientists involved in this unknown phenomenon, and researching heart problems from it. Most likely high school players and programs don’t have the money to test all high schoolers but P5 schools do. I agree with Wufan that there is so little chance of this for high schoolers that it probably isn’t worth it.
