But these tests are two different types of events with negative/positive and accurate/inaccurate outcomes.

IMO all you should care about is antibodies. With a positive you are 90% sure you have 'em. 90% is an A.

I went into it looking for confirmation of my first test result so my method was scientifically sound. Had I tested positive I would have had to devise a new strategy or just accept the higher accuracy serology test.

I have stated prior that I take calculated risks meeting women to maintain my sanity. I have met a couple in a park for a friendly chat, one had already been positive last January. The other I had a short-term relationship w/ and was only with her alone at her home and in a hotel once. The other was a GF that I had going into the pandemic that cooled due to several reasons. I've not been in a restaurant/bar/church/movie/family gathering since last February/March. Well, I have been in a restaurant for carryout of course. Mask engaged at all times. And I enter stores w/ a mask. And I have gone to the chiropractor/dentist a few times. So even in my anal Covid world, I've opened myself for infection.

Lots of socialization over the phone/text.

I would think you want to be extra safe for the sake of science and go ahead and quarantine for at least 21 days, and if you want to be extra safe for 35 days because science tells us there are some (albeit a small number) who can be toxic for up to 5 weeks. I would be disappointed if you are just doing the bare minimum.

Stop talking out of your ass SB. If the entire country was as conscientious as myself, we'd have a couple thousands deaths and a normally functioning economy. Instead we toyed with the "bat flu" with a 99.9999999999999% survival rate and today it completely dominates our way of life.

Absolutely. Everything I have done has far exceeded CDC guidance. Nearly always outdoors and when indoors behind a well-fitted mask.

Something interesting happened with a friend of mine that was part of a super-spreader back in July. Her parents as well as she just got cold-like symptoms. One of the parents tested and was positive for Covid. So this person, who had a fairly stout round of Covid 5 mos. ago, was symptomatic again recently. It was very mild, but still. I told her to get tested again to see if she's shedding virus. This kind of goes with the Pfizer statement about not knowing if the vaccine will prevent viral shedding. My friend said her nose stated burning just like last time and her throat was scratchy. She has also previously tested positive for antibodies. (also had a positive Covid test too back in July). So she definitely has protection. It appears this insidious, alien virus can reproduce faster than your immune system can recognize and respond to it.

There is a case of reinfection where the 2nd go around was much worse than the first. If you had a very mild 1st case, you might have a worse go-around the next time. If you had a nasty case the first go-around you might not even notice your 2nd infection.

Just something to think about. I'll let you know if my friend tested positive again. She of course will not know if they are two different genetic strains, but I think it's safe to say they would be. Anyways, the good news is, this 2nd bout (if Covid) was gone quickly. But she did feel like she was "coming down with something"...

Anyone thinking that the FDA holds companies to such a high standard makes me laugh. The FDA is as easily bribed as any other government agency these days. Between the crap they let through and the excessive protections they grant, we're at their mercy, good or bad.

So you are saying they are 'easily bribed'. Care to offer up some evidence? I would imagine you have been personally impacted by a decision they made. Perhaps you think their protections are 'excessive', I will give that one to you because you are a libertarian. Most of the people down in the trenches at the FDA are trying to do the right thing. And the folks at the top running the agency (the non-career people)? Almost all Trump appointees, so there is a little irony in your statement.

If we ran the government as conservatively as your values would dictate, we would not have an FDA and then anybody could make any claim to 'cure' anything at any time, which is worse than what we have now (standards and a framework). What would you propose to remedy that behavior? I'm somewhat open to smaller government, but how do we accomplish this and what is the problem we are trying to solve?
