Sorry if the image sucks but posting any sort of attachment or photo on this site from an IPhone is interface hell.

Thanks! Now I am really curious about her recruitment story. Inquiring minds want to know - not need to know, but want. :)

          Game Three

The preceding game just ended. It will be 1250 pm or so before this game starts.

          UT Arlington v Shockers

Lineup: CC, Addison, Sami, Bailey, Lainee, Sydney, Mila, Taylor, Krystin with Alison in the circle. Moreno (5.25 and 1.50 in 10.2 innings) is pitching for the Mavs.

A bunt single leads off the first. The Shocks seem to give up a lot of bunt singles. A ground ball out advances the runner, and the next batter is safe on a fielder's choice - trying to trap the runner off second? A double scores one run, but the second runner is out at the plate. A walk follows. This is not a good start. Have the Shocks not "recovered" from last night? A groundout ends the inning. 1-0 and on to the bottom of the first.

Addie ties the game with a solo shot. 1-1 after one.

With two outs, two singles, and a throw put Mavs at second and third. Alison is out of the inning on a popup.

With one out, Sydney triples and Mila's sac fly brings her home. Taylor follows with a triple of her own but is stranded. Shockers 2-1 after two.

A two-out single but nothing more for UTA in the third. CC leads off the Shocker third with a homer. An out later, Sami singles, but Bailey grounds into a double play to end the inning. 3-1 after three.

The Mavs are three up, three down in the fourth. Mila singles after two Shocker outs, and Taylor walks. Can Krystin deliver? She will have to do it against a new pitcher. Emilie Hoelscher (6.63 and 2.05) is in the circle. Nope, ground out. 3-1 after four.

[Away for a bit - should be back soon]

In the fifth, the Mavs get another bunt single but no runs. Addie and Sami have back-to-back doubles in the Shocker half. 4-1 after five.

UTA has a one-out double but no more in their sixth. Mila opens the Shocker sixth with a single and Mila walks. Caroline pinch-hits for Krystin and flys out. CC doubles home one run, and Addie's sac fly scores another. 6-1 Shockers after six.

Chloe pitches the seventh for the Shocks. Probably a chance to work out some of the soreness. :) She gives up an infield single but has two Ks.

          UT Arlington 1-6 Shockers

Eleven hits for the Shocks, seven of the extra-base variety. CC, Addison, Sami, and Mila all had two hits; CC and Addie homered; Sydney and Taylor tripled; CC, Addie, and Sami doubled. CC and Addie each had two RBI. Alison gave up the one run and seven hits in her six innings.

Arlington is starting freshman Jade Moreno on the mound. She pitched a 7-inning shutout against DePaul, who isn't very good. Three runs against Nicholls in an inning. Two runs against Southern while only grabbing two outs. Four runs allowed yesterday against Arkansas in two innings of work.

This is pitcher we need to be all over.

Looks like Kristi is riding with Chloe and Ali on the mound for now. Hopefully Alex gets a shot today at some point.

My guess is Alex will get the start against Arkansas in this evenings game.

I feel bad for Nelson, but how long before we start looking towards the bench?

You would thing pretty soon but what is that telling us about the bench. I guess the 2 main options at 2B would be Sierra Hoekstra and Avery Bernard maybe.

Ad Barnard has made three really good catches.

Surprised Chloe coming in to pitch the 7th. Alison seemed to be pitching quite well. I wonder if maybe a blister was starting to form?

I speculated above that Chloe was working out some soreness - only half in jest. Alison had 94 pitches which is probably pushing her max. Looks like tonight belongs to Lauren and Alex in some order unless Alex has tweaked herself somehow.

Very nice workman like win for the Shocks. Nice work from Alison in the circle with a little 7th inning help from Chloe although I am not sure why that was needed Chloe adds 2 more stirkeouts to her ledger, which is about average for her.

3 doubles, 2 triples, and 2 home runs among the Shockers 11 hits. The Shocks only walked twice but they also only struck out twice. Seeing a little life out of the bottom of the order. Sydney Zenon, Mila Seaton and Taylor Sedlacek combined to go 4-6 including 2 triples and 2 walks.

Lainee Brown and Krystin Nelson continue to struggle.

Probably easier to work out soreness in the bullpen. A lot of baseball pitchers max out at 94 pitches. Not too many softball pitchers do. Seems like I recall Alison dealing with a blister issue once or twice last year. That would not be too surprising for a pitcher who relies on spinning the ball.

My money is on Alex to start against Arkansas this evening unless, like you say, she is dealing with an injury issue. Maybe they will go with Lauren thinking going up against her former team might get her going but she has not been very good so far and apparently was not all that good in the fall.

Okay, you could be right. But I have often wondered what factors are in play: power pitcher v finesse pitcher, large frame v small frame, times through the lineup, stuff I have not thought of.

So a Chloe can go 140 pitches before she is out of gas, but an Alison can only go 110 before she hits the wall. Or maybe it is all in what your eyes tell you.
