And FWIW, I would agree that someone wouldn't visit unless an offer has been made or extended but, again, just haven't seen anything other than interwebz speculation about our interest in him or his interest in WSU.
He visited. I know you have no reason to believe me, but he did.

      • Is this a repeat of the "very reliable sources" complaint we saw a while back? PaulS is known to be believable and not to speculate, and he doesn't write for The Onion (which this board sometimes resembles), so how much cross-checking is really needed?

If that game would have been for all the marbles, it would have been an all-time classic remembered by everyone.
uk's best game in two years. they plateaued there and diminshed little by little every game after that. notre dame (who squeaked by northeastern and butler) also played out of their azz against wichita state in last years ncaa tournament (75% fg in the second half? on fire/en fuego).

if this young man doesn't reclassify, it's "hello, duke." 'not terrribly worried though. marshall has a plan.

I agree with the comment regards UK. I do not agree with the Wichita State comment. ND's guards were quicker than ours. We have great guards and they are probably better players overall, but their guards were quicker, which they exploited. And (to make matters worse) we did not have a rim protector behind our guards once they got beat.

That being said, I believe that our guards will learn from this experience and play better next year. I will be very disappointed if they don't.

what? ron baker could get to the rim anytime he wanted to in that game.. but he couldn't finish. now van vleet lit them up.

what nd exploited was 75% out of their azz shooting from downtown

I thought we could get to the rim at will that game but when they started knocking down a bunch of threes we panicked and tried to match them shot for shot. That was a battle we couldn't win because they were an incredible 3 point shooting team.

As great as Darius was offensively he got abused in the pick and roll (however so did UK big men). Thought Baker and Wessell both gave up too many back door layups. ND was a top 3 offense that had a ton of ways they could beat you.

After seeing Pat Connaughton's numbers at the NBA Combine ... What he was able to do against us makes more sense. Basically the most athletic player at the combine.

Wow, I thought the kid was a pretty good athlete. I never expected him to be THAT athletic.

Sometimes those athletic white guys sneak up on you. Texas used to have a football player like that, Jordan Shipley (now a good NFL receiver) -- he was their fastest man.

How does this relate to Humphries -- is he a stealth athlete? I was thinking he was more of a super skilled guy: a young (beta version, maybe) Aussie Big Fundamental 2.0. (Tim Duncan being the original Big Fundamental, of course.) Or is this just another Shockernet tangent wandering around in search of a relevant thread?

                          • An "Oregon Insider" just added an Oregon prediction to Humphries Crystal Ball Predictions on 247.

A 44" vert is insane. He has a higher vert than 99% of the players in the NBA. That is a Vince Carter vert number right there.

i actually give credit to wichita state for coming back to take the lead after nd's incredible opening salvo.. and credit for only losing by 11 after nd's icredible second salvo. notre dame was a very good team, but now i know how georgetown fans must have felt watching villanova make everything they threw at the rim (circus shots also) in the '85 championship game.

'not too optimistic anymore about signing humphries. but i do believe that marshall will come up with something positive to keep the shockers ultra-competitive for the future.
