If attendance is a factor in whether the Grant regime survives, though, his options may open up again unless things improve dramatically in Tuscaloosa. Check this quote from their Rivals site, in reference to last season as Bama finished well below .500: "Actual attendance dropped nearly 38,000 from the previous season to less than 4,000 per game." Wow -- less than 4,000 a game average? I don't care how many championships they win in other sports to spoil their fans, that's just mind-boggling. Can you imagine ANY circumstance in which the Shocks drew like that even once? WSU gets 4,000 for a lightly promoted, decidedly unspectacular Shocker Madness scrimmage. Good luck, Dazon. You may need it, whether you play for the Tide, or bounce to UAB in case Bama makes a change, or whatever.
Personally, I'm beyond thrilled that the Shocks got McDuffie's commitment, so in my view things worked out for the best, because I doubt that they'd have taken two at this point. Plus, Alabama kids -- maybe even more than most -- often tend to stay close to home. But I have to believe that Ingram has no real appreciation for what he just missed out on, and for him to accept that kind of support instead (even assuming he sees himself as part of the rebuilding project, as he presumably does) is too bad for him."Prediction is very difficult, especially if it is about the future."

The average in the 15 years since is 9,746, and 10.7 conf. wins/yr.
