@APSteadham: Dazon Ingram, 6-5, 185 pound combo guard from Theodore HS (AL), will not be announcing college choice today per his high school coach.

Dazon would be a very fine addition- signing a surplus of gifted combo guards would be a great problem to have. Here's hoping he chooses us when the time comes.

Interesting that his coach would make that statement just a few hours earlier. Best of luck Dazon.
Agree. Could have been some confusion, or the coach buying some time until all the details were worked out. Or, even (gasp) some bad info on twitter. Nahh, that never happens on twitter.
Best wishes to Dazon. I think that there are a lot of disappointed UAB fans as he was their top target.
Not so fast Shocker fans. Ingram may be keeping his options open if Grant gets fired.

at least, Ingram plans to wait until the spring to sign his letter of intent."

Having a player of this caliber still on the board in April could be good for WSU. Allows for the season to play out, potential scholarship-freeing events to occur (NBA, etc.).

That is an interesting twist. So, neither Dazon or Alabama are really committed or is Alabama stuck?
Given Grant's delicate situation (especially with Bruce Pearl's presence scaring Alabama basketball fans into fearing that they might be about to become the in-state second fiddle), it's probably fair to call Ingram's a "provisional verbal" commitment.
My question is: With Dazon's verbal, but waiting to sign until spring, is both, neither, or one on the hook? Does Alabama keep recruiting to fill that slot? If they find someone as good who would sign now, can Alabama back away from Dazon? I don't believe Dazon is any hook and can back out anytime prior to signing without problem (assuming he has another suitor ready to sign him). This seems to leave Alabama open to losing better recruits they may had been able to sign between now and next spring as they sign elsewhere.
According to at least one Alabama website, Ingram is now planning to sign in November rather than waiting till spring. If attendance is a factor in whether the Grant regime survives, though, his options may open up again unless things improve dramatically in Tuscaloosa. Check this quote from their Rivals site, in reference to last season as Bama finished well below .500: "Actual attendance dropped nearly 38,000 from the previous season to less than 4,000 per game." (See more at: https://alabama.rivals.com/content.a....2Qoy1U4Y.dpuf)
Wow -- less than 4,000 a game average? I don't care how many championships they win in other sports to spoil their fans, that's just mind-boggling. Can you imagine ANY circumstance in which the Shocks drew like that even once? WSU gets 4,000 for a lightly promoted, decidedly unspectacular Shocker Madness scrimmage. Good luck, Dazon. You may need it, whether you play for the Tide, or bounce to UAB in case Bama makes a change, or whatever.
Personally, I'm beyond thrilled that the Shocks got McDuffie's commitment, so in my view things worked out for the best, because I doubt that they'd have taken two at this point. Plus, Alabama kids -- maybe even more than most -- often tend to stay close to home. But I have to believe that Ingram has no real appreciation for what he just missed out on, and for him to accept that kind of support instead (even assuming he sees himself as part of the rebuilding project, as he presumably does) is too bad for him.
