For me, that's real surprising, given his parent's background and standing, that money would be an issue or that they would let it be an issue.

Not knowing how highly regarded you are by your connections, I would also think that "lose lips sink ships" and such goings on would be kept very, very close to the vest.

Are you saying he would have let our staff pitch our program if we did not have Nick?

Otherwise, it's not an honor, it was a courtesy.

      • Nick is not the only Canadian with a talented brother.

        • Well, this is pointless, so I guess I'll just abandon this thread. I'm not going to believe anything about Andrew until it's officially announced anyway, so why bother to discuss it?

If Marty somehow knows what he claims to know, that's nice, but anyone can go on the Internet and claim to know anything. And in this case, where I'm really not expecting Andrew to sign with WSU anyway, even though I think it would make lots of sense for him to do so, if he does indeed end up somewhere else how am I supposed to know whether Marty (a) was telling the truth (and was right) or (b) was completely blowing smoke but ended up being right anyway?

Bottom line is I can't, so the heck with it -- I'm just a skeptic all the way when it comes to Internet rumors. I'll find out soon enough, as will we all, and life will go on regardless of the outcome.

          • With what has come out regarding Ben MClemore I would rather we stay as far away from Andrew Wiggins as possible.
I really like out team next year and would hate to see a Memphis like situation with Derrick Rose if we made a run to the final.
We can get there without him!
"Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media,
which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end."

The Ben M. situation is emblematic of all levels of college basketball/AAU basketball. From what I can see the top tier players are taken care of in some form or another throughout jr/sr high.

The players are then tied to bottom of the bottom of the barrel folks and cannot make a clean break for a one to four year period.

Reading the USA today story just demonstrated to me how screwed up the NCAA is. All other college students are allowed to earn income and get real career advise without having to worry about eligibility. Obviously, these potential one and done types need to be doing the same thing, but are not allowed to. Therefore, this under the table stuff in inevitable.

the longer this drags on, the more it seems like an auction

Amen. No need to mess with a successful formula. The more stuff like this happens at the "Elite" level, the happier I am that HCGM knows how to win without trying to compete at "that" level...

                    • I have never thought it was very likely that Andrew would come to WSU primarily due to Nick's presence on the roster as a senior. Andrew would more than likely absorb minutes that otherwise might go to Nick. I doubt he would want to do that to his brother. If Nick was a sophomore next year, then maybe that would not be an issue.

I'm much more interested at this point in how 3G has or will resolve the issue of our scholarship situation. Will someone pay their own way again this year or will someone be convinced they need to move on to a better situation for them.

I see he is going to Sheridan JUCO. Is it difficult for Canadian players to qualify out of high school?

WOW! I've never seen Mr. Lufile but he must be a "stud" (I'm not sure what Mrs. Lufile must look like). They must have some good water where they live in Canada.
