My wife has never admitted to being wrong in our wonderful 34 years of marriage. And why should she? She really never has been wrong.

Gee, and I thought it was just me. I haven't been married quite as long as you have, RDR, but my experience has been very similar.

In any case, the future scholarship situation, as always, is fluid and depends upon a variety of issues, such as: how the commitments hold up, what happens with redshirts (e.g., will Bush be a scholarship player at some point, and if so when?), who qualifies, and whether everyone eligible to return does so.

Assuming Armstead did ultimately end up on a regular athletic scholarship, WSU has four scholarship seniors this year. So far their potential replacements include:

-- a walk-on already in school (Coleby) who seems likely to be on scholarship in 2013-14 as he continues his tour of the nation's colleges,

-- two commitments for November's signing class (Watson and Holland), and

-- one previous signee who will be going to a prep school for a year (Hawkins).

If those four really all end up as scholarship players, that's it. Obviously, therefore, Bush is yet to be accounted for (and is thus a candidate to remain a walk-on, at least for a while longer if not his entire WSU career). Also, such a combination would leave no room at this point for any additional commitments / signings -- yet as always recruiting continues, because neither we nor, more important, the coaches can be sure what the future holds. (Such as Andrew Wiggins shocking the world!)

We should know the 2013-14 roster by about this time next year.

      • And then there are two players attending jucos in Kansas this year, who on Twitter say they will be transferring to Wichita State. One of them, Jacoby Green, is a qualifier.

        • WSUwatcher, are you sure you are going to be able to tell us the 2024 roster this time next year? Just wondering.

And if I counted right @tropicalshox show offers to 6 players in the Class of 2013.

If, in fact Watson, Holland and Hawkins all sign LOI's in November that will firm up some of the outlook, but in the case of Hawkins we will still have to see if he can qualify. And for that matter Wastson, Holland and Coleby all need to take care of business on the academic side although I have no reason to think that won't be the case.

The very early look at 2013-14 roster:
Sr. Class - Lufile, Coleby, Wiggins, Early, Mitchell-NS
Jr. Class - Cotton, Wessel, White, Watson
So. Class - VanVleet, Green, Baker, Bush-NS (With Green and Bush as redshirt candidates)
Fr. Class - Holland, Hawkins (Green and/or Bush depending on redshirt status in 2012-13)

Looking like a pretty full house as of right now, but as we know things can and often do change.

Yes, I'm expecting crystal ball technology to be much further along by then. Thanks for the catch.

              • You have it counted the same way I do, 1972. Should make for some interesting speculation between now and the start of the 2013 school year.

                • Just the fact that this much information is available to make these observations blows my mind (70's popular saying) and again thanks to people like tropical shock.

                  • Do people feel like Hawkins has verballed with WSU for 2013? The Eagle article reported his intention to sign, but the actual quote wasn't all that strong, something like "WSU is showing a lot of interest."

                    • He verballed to a few schools in 2012. Being that we were his last verbal, we have the advantage, but certainly not a lock.

I've seen it written a couple of times (maybe it was the same person) that he verballed to a few schools prior to WSU. I don't remember any media articles on this. Were these verbals on facebook or twitter maybe because I never saw a written article on it. I do remember him saying that he liked the schools that he just visited but that's quite common.

Paul reported the following but it was not a quote:
He said he intends to sign with the Shockers again during his year at the prep school. While Hawkins said the departure of Dana Ford, who recruited him to WSU, disappointed him, it did not cause him to look elsewhere.
He did quote Diontae as follows:

“I still like everything about (WSU),” he said. “The coaching staff is still cool. They’re showing a lot of interest.”
But as others have pointed out none of this really means much. Hopefully, we will have him back in the fold during the early signing period this November. If he doesn't sign with the Shocks in November then you can start worrrying that he is wanting to play the field again.

He verballed to Creighton but they pulled the offer due to academics. I was thinking he also verballed to Dayton, but that may have been more as you described it.

                            • I think at one point he really wanted to go to Dayton but didn't have an offer. Or his buddy didn't have one and they were looking to play together...
