I'm getting older and my short term memory probably isn't as good as it should be but who has Marshall "tossed" because someone came along that was better?

    • Fans tend to like the orderliness of slow and steady replacement. Coaches like to play the best guys they have, regardless of what graduating class they are in. You have to earn your minutes every year, every day.

          • Funny. You don't seem to hear anything from HCGM about the challenges of recruiting "at this level"....

            • Does this retire the "kicked square in the grapes, which can be very painful" meme?

For it's replacement I submit, "cork-popped square in the grapes, which can be very painful".

                • I see him as a big three. I think we are soft there next year with just Evan? Not that I don't think Evan is great but we seem to be a bit thin there?

                  • There are equally few scenarios where Cleanthony isn't in the starting lineup next season. Next season will be challenging at times, and brilliant at times.

We are over committed for scholarships next year (that is according to Sullentrop), so someone will not be back. Marshall has had a steady stream of players leaving the program every year. If there was a player that left every now and then, that would be one thing, but it is much more than that. The way I see it, Marshall treats these kids as disposable. He gets them to make a decision that impact the rest of their lives and when he finds a player he likes better, they are shown the door. I am anxiously awaiting the multi year letter of intent. At that point, there will be more commitment from the coaches and school towards the student athlete and maybe Marshall will be forced to develop players and not just recruit.

                      • Not convinced that we have lost more guys under Marshall than under Turg or under Randy.

I think that Hall's and Orupke's style of play won't compliment each other as much as other combinations because of their similarities. They are both long on defense, and rebounding, and they both are best with their backs to the basket. Garrett matches Hall much better. Just my guess that they probably won't usually be on the court at the same time.

I haven't mentioned a WSU connection, not thinking there was any mutual interest.

He always has the local recruiters (UD, UC, WSU & Miami) at his games (his HS team played in a fairly competitive Summer league).
It goes without saying, but there wasn't any signs of a certain Black & Yellow in the stands.

Obviously, this is long shot for WSU but stranger things have happened. 8)

Is there a current or former Shocker player, who is similar to Teddy?

Also, please describe his strengths, weaknesses and potential going forward.

                            Thanks.

P.S. - There are some expressions, which are over used such as "going forward" and "appropriate." So, I had to make fun of myself.
