  • If he stayed in a Holiday Inn Express--wouldn't he somehow KNOW how to get in? :D

"Wow, are you some kind of Nigerian ambassador?" "No--but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night!"

Like I said, I can't wait until this whole thing is behind us. No one would be more happy to have him here, but either way--this needs to find a resolution sooner, rather than later.

This hut is probably as close to a HIE as EO has ever seen. He will love traveling with the Shockers... he'll be like Borat in America.

      • I know you're kidding about that, but ironically I think EO's parents are pretty well-educated (I thought I heard his dad is an engineer and mom a teacher possibly?) so I bet they live relatively comfortably by Nigerian standards (whatever that may be).

I'm not certain, but you may be describing the parents of Frank Ben-Eze.

Just typing his name now has me confused.

I do remember reading something in the recruiting forum awhile ago about the confusion there...

Let's just hope the myth, the legend, the enigma that is EO finally graces ICT with his presence. I'm just very frustrated with how long this has gone on (I know, not 1/2 as frustrated as Coach Marshall and his staff probably are).

With a little luck--ok, no a LOT of luck it will all be over soon.

                      • Roberts ought to get involved. Bush owes him big for his work-or lack of work while Roberts chaired the Intelligence committee.

Roberts calls Bush-Bush calls Rice-Rice calls the embassy-Orupke calls Marshall to come pick him up.

                        Done

                        • I don't understand this, Orukpe shows up at the US Embassy with an appointment for his student visa, and the Embassy does not let him in.

                          What's wrong with this picture?

Hopefully, he can get in today when he tries again. Am I wrong to assume that arrangements were prearranged for yesterday, and he did not just walk up out of the blue?

And, I was under the impression that the Nigerian government had to grant a student visa for him to leave the country, not that our government had to before the Nigerians said, 'Okay, Ehimen, you can leave'.

If the holdup is on our side (US Embassy in Nigeria), I am going to be pi**ed!!!

I would not be surprised by this. After all, in our government's view, no one is above suspicion of being a potential terrorist.

just imagine the terror he could inflict on the valley! ;-)

                              • Isn't going through the US Embassy an alternative plan than the original way of going through the Nigerian government?

I'm not understanding some of the comments about Plan B might be placing him at a prep or Juco school. If he makes it over, and clears the Clearing House, than why would that be necessary? Everybody seems confident (except maybe myself) on him getting NCAA clearance.
