Austin's big brother's training and example of hard work may play a part in AR MTXE ways today.
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

                  • This is usually @im4wsu:'s territory, but I couldn't resist. So far, Austin as a true freshman, has played in 8 of 9 Shocker games missing to injury a D-II game. As far as I know, he wasn't rated by any of the main services and received no D-I scholarship except for WSU.

He averages 12.9 minutes per game and does not play end of game blowout minutes.

                    Per 40 minutes: 7.4 rebounds, 4.7 assists, 1.2 turnovers, 2.7 steals, .8 blocks, 2.7 fouls, and 21.0 points.

No one plays 40 minutes, so let's look at 30 minutes.

                    Per 30 minutes: 5.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, .9 turnovers, 2.0 steals, .6 blocks, 2.0 fouls, and 15.7 points.

                    He does this while shooting: 17-30 / .567 FG%, 10-19 / .526 3pt%, and 10-14 / .714 FT%.

                    Pretty amazing!

                    • He's a baller for sure and should be even more dangerous as the season rolls along. Keep those shoulders healthy!

                      • He had other D-I offers, but your point remains.

                        • I sure hope he can stay healthy because man is this kid special.

4-1 A/TO and 53% from 3. Just for starters. 53% from 3....and damned near every one of them looks like it's going in.

                          • He seems to hqve the capacity to completely take over a game. He would average 40 points and minutes at Evansville.I wonder if tbere is a specific physical tberapy routine to mitigate his shoulder issues?

There is. Rotator cuff strengthening and stabilization exercises. I'd be surprised if this wasnt something he was doing daily.

Even when AR entered the games with ranked Louisville and Michigan St., you could see the confidence on his face that he belonged out there already as a Freshman and his play supported my opinion. Yes, at the end of next Season we get hit hard with graduation with a Shocker team projected to be very tough. However, 3G is already setting in place a foundation of promising players such as Austin, Shamet, and CJ along with recruits on the way to continue us reaching toward excellence and new heights as a Program.

No matter what the game situation is this Season, when LS or AR enter the game, I am 'snug as a bug in a rug' with our chances for success and love seeing them playing together. It is not often that 2 Freshmen give me that type of confidence as a Shocker fan and few Programs have that happen. FVV and Baker as Frosh came on strong as Freshmen and even made it to the final 4. FVV subbed in for Armstead and Baker was injured for too much of that Season but was a starter when we finally got him back by Dance time.
