Unless some kind of lunker comes along, wouldn't you want to keep as much knowledge and experience as possible for next season in particular? Next year should be great once again but it could also be a train wreck. We just don't know. A lot will be changing in the team chemistry now that an entire era of leadership has graduated. Guys who have led the team the entire 4 years they were here just about... As opposed to a crop of seniors who only led the team for a year or two as upper class men. Keeping all hands on deck to make sure we don't stumble hard early on seems smart to me.

Maybe he will be like Derail Green who improved a lot after he left.
And then there is Nurger. He's had a few flashes of potential, but he's nowhere near the type of player that Marshall needs to have.Kansas is Flat. The Earth is Not!!

The good thing about Sunrise vs other prep schools is that it is right down the road from WSU. He can still hang out with the players, come to games, be around the coaches. Pretty much be part of the team without having to take a RS.The Assman

I think you will see some guys be 'totally different' next year. It was no secret this was Fred & Ron's team. Nobody wanted to upset the apple cart... Next year, personalities will really come out. Its going to be fun. Sure, there will be bumps in the road, but looking at our known schedule... The potential to rack up wins is there. I don't think there will be the plethora of 20 point blowouts, but wins will be plenty.-Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind-

Plus, we are losing 5 guys. I'm sure we will have enough scholarships.Kansas is Flat. The Earth is Not!!

Thinking about the schedule next year. Who is going to be competitive in the MVC? League was very senior dominant this year. UNI & ISUr will be competitive, but anyone else going to do anything? I still see the league as WSUs to lose, by a wide margin.-Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind-

You have to enjoy the ride for the route it takes you on instead of wishing you had a different path and missing the joy of the journey though.
But man did I have to remind myself of that a lot. All of the inefficiencies and frustrations of Fred's absence - and I'm talking about Fred on the bench, not just injured - would have been heavily mitigated by Landry. And I say that with the objective part of my brain, not the part that loves Shocker basketball.
I don't go far enough back to say for sure, but I bet there are some old timers that stare off into the distance and wonder what could have been if Stallworth's eligibility hadn't expired mid-year. I think Landry will be my version of that.
But I'll console myself with the thought of having Landry around for 4 more. In the limited time we saw him I thought he was a better 1 than Fred and a better 2 than Ron in their freshman years.
Sad to see the run end but excited to see what Markis and Landry turn into as they continue it...

This year, we have been weaker at the 3 than last year. Brown did some nice things but he was never as good as Cotton last year. He may have been as effective on defense (not better), but offensively, last year, Cotton was a much better option on offense (both driving the ball to the basket and shooting from 3 point range) than Brown and better than Duff also. There is no doubt that the ceiling on Duff is higher than anyone, but for effectiveness this year, we struggled on offense with the loss of Cotton and Carter.
Next year, we won't be as good at guard as this year, but Landry will be close and Duff will have to pick up a lot of the slack. We will see how much weight Duff can put on and increase his effectiveness both offensively and defensively.

Are we sure SIU is going to be any good? They beat nobody to speak of this year and lose Beane. They have Olaniyan and Smithpeters coming back, but.....they better have some good newcomers.-Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind-
