Why do facts offend you? I left out FVV at 11.6 and Ron Baker at 9.4.

More important than you 6:1 is the net A-TO per 100 possessions -- that is the number of opportunities created. CF is very respectable at 2.9. the walk-ons are Bush 6.5 and Simon at 5.8 and they are playing on the floor with non-rotation guys, but still creating. FVV is 8.0; Shamet 3.4 and Baker 3.2. So 6:1 is nice, but making only the safe passes is not creating, more like taking.

I like CF and love that he is a Shocker. I just do not place him in "saviour" category based on what I've seen. Just MHO

Yes a terrific stat. If you had everyone on the floor doing that, you'd probably average 45 points a game. No one stat can be viewed alone. Evan Wessel is at 1.1, but he, too, makes mostly the safe passes.

WuFan Honestly, I think the fact that the walk ons lead that group in this category is a reasonable indication that the assists per 100 possessions is not a valuable stat.
I cherry-picked and left out Fred and Ron. so the walk-ons didn't lead the statistic. The walkons were playing mostly with non-rotation players who one would not expect to be more proficient than starters in turning passes in to baskets and assists. OTOH, they are usually playing against "defeated" players, though many times still starters, but mprobably not defensively motivated.

I like your HO a lot.

        • HCGM clearly thought Ty was enough of an option to play him significantly when Fred was out. If we were in a position to lose 15 games this year, this may have paid dividends later in the season. I think this was a Rick Ankiel situation and Ty got too much on him too early. We'll see what happens, but the kid definitely has talent and skills.

          • Whoever said that CF was going to be our "savior" at PG? I said he would probably play there
out of necessity and/or just our best option. Having looked at DS's season stats I am moving
him down the list of possibilities and replacing with CJ who could be very outstanding defensively.
I agree with wufan that CF and LS will start in the back court but not sure which will play point.
CJ and TT are probably going to be the next best options. As for a savior at that position LS
probably has the best chance of developing into that. With CF and LS in the back court we will
have two high BBIQ guys who can handle the ball, see the court, and shoot. If TT can somehow
obtain the mentality of a PG he could be a strong contender but he HAS NOT shown that side yet.

                • Wichita hosts first and second round games of the 2018 NCAA tournament. If we are ranked highly and have a good seed that year, we could potentially play those games in Wichita. We also play in the Maui Invitational that season. Morris, Brown, Kelly, and Frankamp would be seniors. McDuffie would be a junior. If Coach Marshall stays and the players continue to improve, we could be just as good in 2017 and 2018 as we have been the last few years.

                    - Marshall leaves this year (for a job yet TBD, maybe an assistant at Kentucky)
                    - WSU will be back at its rightful place in the middle of the Valley
                    - WSU will be back to irrelevance
                    - There is no one left on the roster worth a damn. It was all FVV and RB all the time.
                    - The recruiting has dried up
So true and why next year can potentially be so much fun!

We cannot play at the Wichita site as long as we are co-hosts. We would have to drop out as the co-host.

As long as that loophole remains open, I'm sure that's true. We are going to be very good over the next few years, and the idea of Wichita getting to see WSU as a one seed in Wichita eases some of the pain of the loss!

                          • Ty Taylor -- He is talented and was thrown to the wolves much to early in his career which wasn't fair, but when Simon was put into the game for mop-up duty at the end of the AZ game it told me all I needed to know about his future.

Austin Reeves -- I think this guy is going to be really, really special. Even after his impending shoulder surgery he may just be too good for a Sunrise placement.

                            • I may be out on an island here, but I actually think we will see everyone back. Even the ones who were on the fringe a little bit. Not because I necessarily think they will all be ready all the sudden, but more because a lot of things will be unknown. Unless some kind of lunker comes along, wouldn't you want to keep as much knowledge and experience as possible for next season in particular? Next year should be great once again but it could also be a train wreck. We just don't know. A lot will be changing in the team chemistry now that an entire era of leadership has graduated. Guys who have led the team the entire 4 years they were here just about... As opposed to a crop of seniors who only led the team for a year or two as upper class men. Keeping all hands on deck to make sure we don't stumble hard early on seems smart to me.

                              • I was about to post that we need a linker next year, but we don't. It looks like Nurger will be our third string center and Hamilton will be our third string power forward. I'm good with that.
