Part of the problem for us against zones I think is we really don't have that true post player. If we had a 6'9, 6'10 guy who demanded double teams that would help. Shaq at 6'8 is really a power forward and Anton plays like he's 6'5...

I'm sorry but that makes no sense. The point of a zone is to prevent the ball from entering the paint, be it by driving or passing to the post. Our bigs were killing them so they switched to a zone. If we didn't have good post players teams wouldn't need to play a zone or double our big men. If anything our lack of a great shooter was the problem this game. However, even great shooters have off games. Unfortunately our guards went cold in the second half and we were unable or unwilling to find another way to score. And of course we fouled and/or surrendered offensive rebounds nearly every possession 12:00 on in the second half.

I hate it when we lose but I'm a realist and knew we would drop one eventually. Now we see how we respond to a little adversity. This time without the built in injury excuse. It's always nice to learn from wins but it's not always possible. It's a long season.

And he would go all the way out to the corner to double like he didnt have a man to guard under the basket. The over help defensive has been hurting us all year,but when we win nobody notices it.

I know they went to zone at about the same time, but the ISU run also coincided pretty closely with Shaq going to the bench with foul trouble. He is head and shoulders ahead of Grady as far as knowing what to do defensively, being strong enough to hold onto the ball, being smart enough not to try to dribble in the high post...etc. etc. I'm still struggling to see him being far enough ahead to not give Rauno at least some of his minutes.
