He provides depth but I thought we were getting an anchor type 13 and 7 a game kind of presence that we sorely need. Looks like Shaq is closer to that lately than Anton. I shouldn't say he's a bust because he's not. He does provide great depth. I just wasn't expecting that to be the ceiling. Maybe the best is yet to come like with Bush last year.

    • I'm not down on Anton. He's about what I expected--undersized, finesse post with some crafty moves. You thought he would put up his horizon numbers in the valley? The valley is bad but it's not the horizon, and he's the third or fourth option when he's on the floor now. Oh and remember when he basically died on the court? Yeah. No I feel pretty good about our frontcourt honestly. This is a really good team in all respects that had a bad showing tonight. But we need to respond to adversity better--I knew when it was first tied up that we would lose. There are two punches thrown in every game and we'd do well to learn how to throw both of them.

So Mike Kennedy was stating a fact. Do you have a problem with him stating a fact?

Who cares about publicity? lol, your trolling is weak garb. You gotta bring it better than that newb.

        • The drives to the basket are frustrating. SIU did the same thing, they just didn't make their shots. We give up way too many easy drives and then our big guys have to come in and foul the shooter.

And he would go all the way out to the corner to double like he didnt have a man to guard under the basket. The over help defensive has been hurting us all year, but when we win nobody notices it.

Please put down the ps4 controller, pornhub, lotion, and get out of your mom's basement for some fresh air and then come back here. Thanks.

                  • I know we all hate the Birds but they did play a pretty good non-con. Losing to Kentucky and SanDiego State and Maryland, playing all of them tough. Seems they have a knack for getting up for ranked teams. We've owned them over the last 5-6 years with some close games. The undefeated year we pulled one out our ass when we were bailed out by the kick heard round the world. This might be just what we needed. We will soon find out, next week will be a gut check week....

Not very poised against the zone, certainly, but when you can't shoot you're going to tend to look bad. After the first two baskets of the second half (going by the ESPN play-by-play) the Shocks took 24 shots -- 14 (!) of them from three -- and made five, including exactly one of the three pointers. Tough to win that way. Then add to that all the second chances they gave away, too many missed FTs, and the inability to create turnovers in the second half, and you can see how Illinois State finished the game outscoring WSU 37-16, which I would not have thought possible. I still don't think I'd believe it if I hadn't actually seen it.

Bottom line is that Illinois State played well enough -- they rebounded, took care of the ball, and shot FTs well enough -- to win; and WSU didn't. Now the task is to shake this off, get back to playing Shocker basketball, and keep one disappointing loss from becoming two. This was pretty amazing (in a car wreck sort of way) and miserable to watch, but if something like this had to happen, better now than a month or six weeks from now.

Perhaps that is why he is moping around all the time, he realizes his game hasn't elevated. If he wants to make the NBA, his perimeter shooting needed to get better this year. His first three years beyond the arc, he averaged 35, 38, 38 and now is averaging 36 percent from the 3 line. We all thought he'd really break out this year but we're still waiting. There is still a lot of basketball left, I'm really hoping he and Connor will find their stroke toward the end of the season when it really matters.
