I really......REALLY hate to say this (and for all practical purposes should not even come close to mentioning it)......but as much as I am so excited for this upcoming season....I CANNOT wait for the following year when everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) in the nation will be saying "THANK GOD Fred and Ron finally graduated" only to be completely SHOCKED that Wichita St. continues to ROCK n' ROLL with new talent in 2016-17!!!!!
I'm anticipating a few rags saying......
2016-2017 Pre-Season Wichita St. #24
Witchita St. looses A LOT!!! Gregg Marshall will try to reload but losing VanFleet and Barker is asking a lot out of the mid-major program on the prairie. We're surprised Marshall elected to stay in Witchita as both Ole Miss and Washington came calling with 3 million + offers. Rumor also had it that a third BCS program in Clemson was asking for his services and were offering Marshall upwards of 4 million per year.
Most college basketball fans and national media still just don't get why he stays at the mid-major program. Sure sophomore Conner Frankcamp scored 24 points against North Carolina en route to winning the schools first men's basketball National Championship last year. Any yes we saw sophomore center Shaquille Morris grab 13 rebounds along with his 20 point effort against yet again an overmatched Kansas team in the Semi-Final. But had it not been for VanFleet dishing out 11 assist setting up Shocker freshman reserve guard Laundry Shament and sophomore Zach Brown in that National title game for their combined 22 points from the field...the Shockers would've stalled.
Thus far we are the only national publication to even have Witchita St. ranked in the pre-season at #24. Consider it a compliment to what Gregg Marshall did there the past 5-6 years. We did like some of the newcomers from last season's team...but this year will show the program can not sustain the success it once had and we think after the 2017 seasons ends Coach Marshall will end up finally taking a BCS job at the "soon to be opening" at Mississippi St.
*** Hey Sports Fans!!! Liked what you just read here - please check out our in-depth article on why we have Kansas as the clear-cut favorite to win this years (and the next few years) National Championship game in Phoenix and why we have them pre-season #1 ***

No mention of other front court variables. BWam, Nurger, Hamilton etc. The season will speak for itself. It's going to be one helluva ride for us! I'm going to sit back and enjoy every second if it!When your not practicing, someone somewhere is and when you meet him...he'll beat you.

Playing Road games at WSU is much different (tream attitude, success, etc.) than playing roadies for another team. Also with the depth behind him, he will not have to play timidly due to early foul calls.
Does anybody else remember extraordinary fouls called on players in road games? Does "MVC Saturday afternoon and Fred VanVleet ring any bells?"I not sure that I've ever been around a more competitive player or young man than Fred VanVleet.
