I agree with you Rosewood. Have any of these officials seen Altman on the sidelines? How about Jim Les? Talk about demonstrative! However, the king of demonstrative is Jim Boheim at Syracuse. That guy puts on a 3 act show every 5 minutes when he's coaching. I played HS ball against him in the 60's and he was into whining even then. I've tried to look at this officiating thing in an objective light (hard to do), but it does seem to me that these officials remember WSU as being one of the most penalized teams by the NCAA right after the Smithson era (I'm not blaming Gene) and believe that they are still trying to teach us a lesson. This sucks.

I remember that JD Collins had problems and issues with Mark Turgeon when he was at WSU. Chris Allison said Terrell Benton texted him after the game when Marshall went after Jim Bain obviously to make a point about the officials working the game. Terrell was at the game for KGSO."Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media,
which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end."

Back to officiating for a second. Are we to believe from Jim Bain that the worst thing that's ever happened at the MVC Tourney is that a coach said "Foul" on one play to get the first "T" and on another play to get ejected, the coach turned his back to the officials?
For that, we see the first coach ever to be ejected from a game at the MVC Tourney?

Wait a minute ..... Wait a minute, Wasn't it Elgin last year that publicized that the MVC would have better quality officiating this year and beyond?
Do you guys feel it is better?
How many times have you seen a coach running up one side of a ref and down the other side looking like he was going to chew him up? I have seen it many times, and they didn't get a technical.
Sometimes, the way some of these MVC games play out regarding penalties almost look like they are orchestrated.
I wasn't there, just listened on the radio, but how could Phil ahead of the ISU guy, get knocked off his feet from behind going up for a shot, not be a foul???
I wish we could have some video of it???
We deserve better for $1,600 a game per ref.

As to Marshall's "T's", I'm a teacher, and sometimes you have a rotten little kid who is constantly getting in trouble, saying inapproprate things, and getting under your skin every second of the day. Now, eventually, he reaches your last nerve and does one more little thing and you explode and send him to the office. That last 'little thing' he did, viewed all by itself, probably did not warrent getting sent to the office, and if some other kid and done the same thing, they probably would not have been sent, but the build up of continued behaviour is impossible to ignore.

From Kennedy's description on the radio, it sounded like Phil was clearly fouled before that second technical. It should have at least been a personal foul, if not an intentional foul call on Indiana State. The part that really gets me about that noncall is that players can get hurt on plays like that. With all of the injury problems we have had this year, I would be disappointed if Marshall did not let the refs have it for not calling a foul on something like that.
How much do these out of control refs contribute to fans getting more unruly? Maybe if fans found out when their team has been wronged like ours was tonight that the refs do eventually end up PAYING $$$$$ for it, then maybe they would not get as unruly.
Prolly could start a whole new thread on this subject , but AS LONG AS Officiating is above and beyond reproach , and criticism , there will NEVER be any reason for them to improve there performance, I have watched a lot of College BBall this yr and just as in yrs past the officiating is BAD , and GETTING WORSE. and there will be no improvement until coaches and Ad's can bring public criticism and ( actually call out ) lousy officials Just MY opinion of course. But nuthin improves if you cant bring attention too it .From the road I listen (Tune In radio) at home I watch ( season Ticks )

Why can't there be an independent oversight committee to evaluate refs? Why are the refs governing themselves? Isn't that like letting Microsoft write the rules of engagement for commerce in the software industry?
Can we also let the oil companies govern themselves and disband the EPA?

Guys like Jim Bain (is he still with the MVC?) are supposed to be doing that oversight for the league.
But at times I wonder if since Elgin "stepped up the officiating" a few years ago if they've now gotten cowardly and don't want to tick off any the refs for fear they won't want to work for the MVC again.
Unfortunately, I don't see things getting any better. We're already using many of the same refs that work the BCS conferences. Where do you we go from there?

Royal,
Last nights referees were further proof that most of the other schools and officials in the league wish we were not part of the MVC.
You can ask any WSU coach or administrator and they will say there is considerable dislike for WSU.
The reasons are: They are tired of the travel distance to Wichita.
WSU Baseball's ongoing dominence.
WSU Volleyball's rise to 1st in the league.
Four straight all sports crown's.
WSU Koch arena and the perception that we have more
money and support than anyone else.
The concern that we don't spend any money to support
football like SIU, Ill. St. etc do.
The fact that we could become a very strong team
in Men's Basketball.
The fact that so many Shocker fans go to St. Louis
every year.
Lastly based on what we paid MT and now HCGM we are
upsetting the cost structure for their coaches.
This has been and will continue to be why we will get very few breaks from the MVC teams, coaches or Valley office.
