  • I am surprised that Ferrell is listed at 6' 178lbs. He has always seemed much larger to me when I have watched IU play. He is superior to FVV athletically, but that size makes we wonder if we will just stick with FVV on him defensively.

I am curious who they will throw at Baker. They are not exactly a defensive juggernaut. I am also curious what Cotton's shot looks like after 2 weeks in the shop.

Once you make it into the Dance I'm not sure how much all the season statistics and comparisons mean. At this point everyone is back to 0-0 and the grind of the season is over replaced by the excitement of March Madness.

I would say for IU is a fairly decent matchup. A team with a 6'10ish rim protector on D and post scorer on O is IU's kryptonite. IU wants to get teams into a guard oriented up and down game.

WSU is better, but the danger for them is that IU has a 1/10 type of game in them where they hit everything and there is that can be done to salvage the win. I love the intelligence and moxy of WSUs guards, but IU has lots of talent there as well. Blackmon will be one of the best shooters on the floor. Yogi is a Shabazz Napier type player--maybe a small step down since Yogi is only a junior.

Imo, its tough when you're the better team, but your opponent can come in and matchup strength for strength with you.

      • Yogi is apparently already talking ish on his snapchat for everyone to see... Good god I'm tired of playing teams in the dance from right around my home town

        • Both teams have exceptional guard play and lack size in the post. IU has a freak of an athlete in Troy Williams.

Talking of SOS is a hard conversation, while the overall schedule is very comparable, a look at tourney teams each team has played is not comparable.

IU- Texas southern, EWU, SMU, VILLE, BUTLER, GTWN, MSU x2, Maryland x 3, Wisconsin, Purdue x2, ohio state x2, and Iowa.

          5-12 against them- not good!!

Wichita State- Nmsu & uni x2.
1-2 against them. Also not good.

Please do not say we would not schedule you in NonCon when we played 6 tourney teams in non con.

If you are using tournament teams, it would be Utah, NMSU and UNIx2, it would actually be WSU at 2-2.

See, winning home games against NCAA teams isn't that hard.

                Our record would be 2-2.

                    • If it would make everyone feel better, we could have gained 2 more "quality losses" by losing to Illinois State twice. That would have had them safely in the 40s of the RPI. When you don't just hand out RPI-candy by losing like it's going out of style, your opponents tend to have a little lower numbers.

                        • I'm first and foremost an IU fan but I watch a lot of MVC cause a lot of family graduated from Evansville. I think this will be a fun game to watch - a lot of great guard play and close (I hope - depends on which IU team shows up - one that plays some defense or one that plays none - if one that plays none shows up we are in trouble).

If I was a WSU fan that's what I'd be most worried about - our inconsistency. There is no doubt WSU is the better team this year and has a better chance at going further in the tourney BUT we only have to show up for one game. We have the athletes and scoring to beat anyone when their head is on straight.

Crean isn't the best XOs guy for sure - most of us think with the 4mil or so a year we can do a lot better - but he can surprise. He has won games he's not suppose to - see Kentucky couple years ago.

I think us and Texas are dangerous first round - we'll come back to earth but both teams have the tools to win a game they shouldn't.

Good luck and here's to no injuries.

                          • Guys on here arguing about resumes, rpi (worthless), and sos crack me up. Is the bracket up for debate still? Can they appeal the pairings?

                            The game is set.

--fwiw, I would love a home and home with WSU, Utah, etc.. Our wuss coach and money hungry AD are against such games.

Agreed. Just play the damn game. Would love a home and home as well. Would love to get back to early 60s scheduling where we played as many as 4 Big10 teams in a single year. :-)
