Although this is a good point, it does also bring to light one thing; A team with a not so good record can win big in the tournament. We had 8 loses the year we went to the FF, including 6 in conference. 7 seed or not we are favored by 5.5 points on a neutral court, and the game WILL be played on the court. Should be fun.

      • I just want to get this out there. @DaBull:, I like you a lot, and I don't really want to continue bantering with you because I like Indiana and we have no rivalry here. The world is an odd place when Indiana isn't at the top of the Big 10 and I'd like to see you there. I hope you can say the same for WSU and the MVC.

A lot of time we get classic trolls here from power 5 teams we play and we get these same comments constantly. We are always primed and ready for it as a result. Having said that, I don't consider you a troll at all because you've stuck around to defend yourself and you seem to know your stuff. The next classic line that we always get from trolls is the "I went over to WSU's board and they are such delusional idiots because they didn't bow down to our greatness when I said they suck on their board" I don't think you are like that, but many who show up here are. We are always expected to apologize for our schedule and apologize that we got ranked and apologize that we made the Dance and apologize that we went to the Final 4. At some point, we get a little testy. :)

Actually if you look at the seedings this year, IU is a higher 10 seed than OSU, basically OSU only had one top 50 win all year, maybe two after the BTT. They scheduled light in the pre conf season, IU did interms of low majors but also played plenty of teams that are 5 seeded or higher right now. Basically it all comes down to arguing about who plays a tougher sched and IU will win that everytime due to playing in the B1G. Does that make IU better, hell no, I will be pleasantly surprised if we win Fri, but if we do it will be because of alot if the teams we have faced this year. I feel IU has been battle tested much of the year, but I still expect a Shocker win by 4-5 pts!

There were an awful lot of extenuating circumstances with that F4 team. I'm shocked people still reference all those losses as some indicator that a F4 run was a miracle. The team that played the regular season, and especially Valley schedule, wasn't even close to the same team that played in the NCAA tournament, almost exclusively because of injuries. One of those teams was a Top 50ish type team. One of them was clearly a Top 5 team.

I'm not talking about this year's OSU. I'm talking about the 2013 OSU that played such a tough B10 schedule.

If you win, you HAVE to beat KU. You cannot take this chance from us and then make us look bad two days later :) You also HAVE to end UK's "glorious" undefeated season on a last possession three ball from your point guard because that is our mission. Fresh Van Vleet/FVV/FredEx is destined to avenge that missed shot last year against Kentucky to ruin their run just like they did to us.

Good point. The team that went to the Final 4 effectively included Ron Baker's debut, and Carl Hall was back. When we were gathering up losses, neither of those guys were playing.

Most IU fans aren't happy with our non-conference scheduling. The top this year was fine with SMU/Pittsburgh at home and Louisville/UConn/Butler at neutral sites, but we'd like our AD to get rid of the games against sub-300 teams where you gain nothing of value. Lots of great schools playing basketball in the Midwest that would be more competitive games and would help the team develop. We'd also like at least one road game a year in the non-conference against a decent opponent so we're not shell-shocked the first time we play on the road in the Big Ten.

Not saying it was a miracle and i am aware of the circumstances. So maybe I will use a better example, UConn...one year ago. I am not saying Indiana is going to the final four BTW...

                      • I think this is a decent matchup for the Shocks. OTOH, Indiana probably thinks it is a good match up for them.

Once you make it into the Dance I'm not sure how much all the season statistics and comparisons mean. At this point everyone is back to 0-0 and the grind of the season is over replaced by the excitement of March Madness.

There are no easy touches from this point forward. It boils down to which team can best answer the bell and if they both do who knows what the game might hinge on. Perhaps the bounce of the ball will determine the winner.
