  • I don't really care either way, but if ILS gets in and is seeded 12th/13th they will have managed to beat two teams the previous weekend in the same seeding range as their first round opponent.

On the other hands UNI being seeded higher does have a certain expected value over them being lower so it is not as simple as saying ILS making it is +1.0 rounds in terms of the payout. Who knows how much the expected value goes up for UNI but some fraction.

You do get more money though as each team in the conf gets a share for every NCAA tourney game played by each team in your conf...though if Michigan was in the Big 10 tournament Final I can't say I would be rooting for them either.

      • Another think to consider if ISUr does win, it would give them confidence going into next season.

Granted, they do lose night, but they are a fairly young team.

        • I'm thinking the committee might put us as a 6 playing in Louisville...

What will ISUr's seed actually be if they beat UNI?

Say what you want about them, but if they beat UNI, they probably have an at-large resume even without the obvious autobid. Two top 25 RPI wins, three top 50 RPI wins, a very solid noncon SOS, a top 50 RPI of their own, 22 wins. The real negative against them would be the 3-7 vs top 100 RPI record.

I would probably take that resume over most of the 11 seeds and maybe some of the 10 seeds.

For comparison: Texas had a 100 noncon SOS (IlSt: 57), 2-9 vs top 25 (IlSt: 2-5), 3-11 vs top 50 (IlSt: 3-5), 6-12 vs top 100 (IlSt: 3-7). RPI-wise, both teams would probably be in the 40s. And Texas is a 10 seed in Palm's latest bracket. IlSt would win every comparison against them except top 100 RPI record and overall SOS.

I'm not a bracket guy, but I'd take that IlSt resume over Texas'. I would probably also take it over Georgia, Boise St, Purdue, maybe Davidson (that noncon SOS, woof), and those are all teams in the 10/11 range on Palm's bracket.

              That's gotta be a nearly ban-worthy run-on sentence. Yikes!

And another thing to add to that thought is Gregg Marshall came to Wichita St. expecting "multiple bids" for the conference. 3 bids would bring back some prestige and even though Gregg lost yesterday it would be cool for him to say, "See...this is a good league." BUT...no way Illinois St. wins today. Too much energy expended yesterday.

No bias in your thinking is there? I am with you in hoping they play in Louisville.

                    • There is some of that, but I honestly think they will screw us over a throw us in as a 6...

                      • A 6 is almost guaranteed to be better for us geographically than a 4 or 5.

                          I would guess us a 7

                          • WSU was a 5 seed last time they won the conference and lost in the semis.

Probably will end up around the same place.

No way in hell we drop to a 7.

                              • Lunardi has WSU as a 5, but I could see them getting a 7 or a 6.....A lot will depend on what happens this week in conference tourney's. One more thought, the B12 deserves no more than 5 bids. When ur so called tourny teams are losing games to TT, ur conference is not very good.
