4. Wichita State Shockers
OK, I’m done doubting Gregg Marshall and the Shockers. Done. They shocked the college basketball community a season ago with the improbable march to the Final Four, and now Wichita State is 15-0. Sure, the Shockers haven’t beaten anyone in the Top 25, but still … 15 straight remains 15 straight. I actually think this is a better team than last season's squad that boasted Carl Hall and Malcolm Armstead. Cleanthony Early and Ron Baker are both terrific players, and Fred VanVleet has stepped in and made people in Wichita forget about Armstead. These guys could roll through the Valley and enter the NCAA tournament with a No. 2 or No. 3 seed.Shocker fan since December 28th, 2005!

New Names Chasing a Title
This year in college basketball is setting up for a team that hasn't ever won a title -- or at least hasn't won one in decades -- to cut down the nets. Introducing the unusual suspects.
Wichita State
Last title: Never
Key stat: The Shockers' current win streak, now at 15 games, is the longest in school history.
Fits the description: Since 2006, there has been at least one Final Four participant to make it back the following season.
Potential Most Outstanding Player (MOP): Cleanthony Early. He simply gets it done -- whether scoring, rebounding or needing a stop on defense.Shocker fan since December 28th, 2005!

Three guys not getting enough national attention
1. Fred VanVleet, Wichita State
A reserve during last year's run to the Final Four, VanVleet has officially broken out as a sophomore. The 5-11 point guard is averaging 12.4 points, 5.1 assists, and 3.4 rebounds per game while shooting 47.2 percent from three-point range. In VanVleet's last five games, he's handed out 22 assists while only committing two turnovers. That's ridiculous.
p.s. those screen captures from ESPN and NBC are freaking awesome!!!Kansas is Flat. The Earth is Not!!

Wichita State was virtually unknown a decade ago, but the basketball program has put the school on the map and given the country countless underdog wins in the tournament. The memories the Shockers have provided are unforgettable, but it is time to hang up the glass slipper and exchange it for respect and possibly even a championship.
I have come here to chew bubblegum and kickass ... and I'm all out of bubblegum.
