I read that Haller had WSU #2 and I was about to commend him for finally pulling his head out of his ass. I knew I should've read your whole post before thinking about praising him.

      • I'm guessing Ron Morris didn't respond to the inquiry. I blame Paul for not mailing a letter to him instead of sending an e-mail.

        • We have seen 12 ballots so far and WSU is #1 on 2 (Jerry Carino and Chris Dachille), #2 on 8 and #3 on 2. Florida is #1 on 8, #2 on 3 and #3 on 1 ballot. Arizona is #1 on 2 ballots, #3 on 6 ballots and #4 on 4 ballots. Syracuse has not been in the top 3 any of the ballots, they have been #4 on 6 ballots, #5 on 3 and #6 on 2 ballots. Creighton and Ku have moved up a lot on most ballots (that one point win at home against Seton Hall turned out to be HUGE for Cu). SLU has remained mostly the same or moved up just one spot (Doug Haller the big exception dropping them 3 spots). SDSU has fallen a lot on most ballots.

Bottom line it is looking very much like it will be 1. Florida, 2. WSU 3. most likely AZ. Syracuse will probably be fourth. After that it gets really murky. Duke could be 5th or maybe even Ku but there is a lot of variation for those 5 to 10 spots. Creighton or SLU have even been in the top 5 on some ballots.

          • Thanks for the link. They add a few more ballots that haven't been posted here on Shockernet. The thoughts listed in the article pretty much confirm what we have seen on the 12 ballots so far. It is too bad Florida made that jump from #6 to #3 on Jan. 27 (passing the Shocks by 1 vote at the time). The bulk of the voters now have Florida ahead of WSU and they aren't going to change that unless Florida loses.

The article includes two more #1 votes for WSU (John Bohnencamp and Jim Benson). So we know WSU will have at least 4 #1 votes when the poll comes out tomorrow.

              • I say we come in solid AP-#2 with 1,558 points and with at least 10 1st place votes.

                • Soren Petro still has us at 4th. The whole " I can't move them any higher" schtick is getting a bit tired.

I was surprised as it was well written and complimentary of us. It is worth the read. http://www2.ljworld.com/news/2014/fe...top-spot-poll/

He has been very complementary all season. He is also one of the advocates for KU to schedule WSU.

Dallas Tip Off was willing to host WSU and was shopping for a team. Nobody would step up. Marshall was trying to strengthen the schedule until the last second. Everybody has forgotten that.

                          • I sent Rick a little note:

“I wish Marshall would have challenged his team with a better non-conference schedule.”
You might want to research this statement a little better. Lots of published stories out there regarding Marshall’s hard work over the years scheduling major conference schools. Just do a google search. Pick up the phone and call Marshall or ask Coach Turgeon at Maryland about his scheduling issues when he had a successful team at Wichita State.
If you’re going to rip a coach for not trying to schedule tough opponents in the non-con then rip all the Big 12, Big 10 and Big East schools that have turned Marshall down. But give credit to Tennessee and Alabama for going against the grain and doing home and home games with Wich St.
