I'm not sure there is one.

    • Oregon falls 7 places after a loss to a ranked team (Colorado) on that team's home court. Not an Altman fan but Oregon is better than most of the teams ahead of them. I shudder to think what will happen if the Shocks lose in MVC play.

And KU only drops a single spot for the same performance, but on their home court.

Check out the ridiculous gap between #17 Oregon (715 points) and #18 KU (367 points). I dunno if I've ever seen a spread that big between one spot in the polls.

Shocks lead over #7 Baylor narrows, but only slightly (11 in week 8, 54 in week 9, 34 this week). Overall, no complaints- we are being treated very fairly.

Just when I think the AP voters really do have a clue they do something like that. They are still struggling to understand college basketball and apply what even the RPI caretakers figured out years ago.

The fact that the majority of pollsters have WSU higher makes whining about BCS bias and using Iowa State as an example seem strange.
I agree with you in general about Iowa State. I was referring to the pollsters that had Iowa State ranked lower than WSU last week and then put them ahead of WSU this week.

But who's nick picking? I'm happy for the top 10 Shocks.

                • #3 Ohio St and #5 Michigan St play this week. Take care of business and a top 5 ranking is in the cards for next week.

The game is at MSU. If Ohio State loses a close one, don't be shocked if they manage to stay ahead of the Shox.

Also, Baylor plays Iowa State tomorrow. Winner of that game might jump the Shox.

It isn't out of the realm of possibilities for WSU to stay undefeated and yet fall to #7 next week.

Even if we win the next 15 games, I have a hard time believing we will climb much higher. And rightfully so. We just don't have any opportunities for big victories, while other teams will have match-ups in their league against highly ranked teams.

I don't think so, Van Vleet put it very eloquently in the post game interview. Last year teams in the valley always played their hardest against us. Being #6, #15, #1, or undefeated is not going to change that. The target was there to begin with.
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take....

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.

Assuming that we don't lose for several weeks (if at all), I could see us hitting a short term ceiling in the next week or two. Or course that assumes that the teams above us don't lose except to highly ranked teams. It is definitely possible for some teams to jump over us with quality wins. We could bounce around in the 6-8 spots for a few weeks and not crack the top 5 until we get past ISUb and UNI on the road...

But who cares. We're a top ten team with plenty of room to get better by March/April.

                              • People have been saying we've peaked for the time being since we were #12. In the three weeks since then, we've gapped up 2 spots in every new poll.

We might spend a week or two consolidating our gains and waiting for those ahead of us to lose, but the only ceiling in the polls for this squad is #1.
