I don't care who we play......I just threw 2 names of teams I thought might be interested. You guys are probably not going to want to give up the home games.....we're not going to have any choice unless we want a 2000-2003 type schedule.

Good article. CU was the beneficiary of incredible timing. They get to join the new Big East.

In the meantimee, we face the following challenges:
      1) No more Creighton in the Valley - 1 quality opponent goes away
      2) No more Bracket busters - 1 less opportunity to get games with the VCUs, George Masons, etc
      3) No more Mountain West Challenge - 1 less opportunity for another quality opponent.
      4) We are still viewed as a top "mid-major". Too good to play on the road or at home..

HCGM and ADES are really going to be working overtime unless something changes... and we are going to fall back into the trap of a few years ago. Great W-L record, but debatable resume (who did we play)....

If not, then a gentlemen's agreement that the winners and the losers _from the prior year_ match up.

Where there's the will, there's a way. Unfortunately, I wonder just how storng the will will be once CU is away.

Is it overstating things to say that the MVC is now at a key inflection point and how they respond to Creighton leaving will perhaps deterimine the future, or lack thereof, for the MVC? How stable is the MVC? Will everyone be looking for the best exits going forward?

Will miss them, even though I don't like them, and it will be interesting to see what the MVC and ADES strategy on this.....

They will almost have to double their current budget to spend what the average budget is for the new big east. They will have to increase ticket prices to some serious levels.
Do you have a link or facts to back that up? Depaul, Providence, Seton Hall? Color me skeptical.

                    No.

Had we not gotten in? YES. But we got in.

Creighton has no effect on if 3G stays or goes. As long as we produce, schedule well and make plenty of noise, as well as keep paying him, he has no reason to bolt except for a top job.

Exactly. They will be making 2.7m more in TV revenue but will have to spend 3.1m more to match the average that is being spent by the projected new big east. Some of the additional tv money has been projected to defray the increased travel costs for all sports. In looking at the attendance levels it looks like there aren't a whole lot of seats to sell on a per game basis. So if they are going to keep up with the orther Jones's in the league the money will have to come from somewhere.

If you read the link provided it also has graphs within the article that shows what each school spends and also the travel distances. What color is skeptical and I will gladly oblige.

As long as we keep going to the tournament, it shouldn't be a problem.

Winthrop kept going to the tournament. Marshall is now here.

As I read here and on other message boards, I don't think many people understand the dynamics in play. The additional $3mm is the starting point of the additional revenue. It is not a static number. Every other revenue stream grows as well. And the growth has the potential to be almost exponential. The amount Creighton gets from Nike or whomever supplies their uniforms goes up. The money they receive in advertising goes up, corporate sponsorship goes up, ad rates go up. Yes, ticket prices will go up but so does revenue from every source. The increase is not because Creighton is somehow this national brand, but because they will be playing in some of the biggest cities in America. Money will not be the question, whether or not they can compete, will.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.
