Lansing outcoached HCGM in the first half when he (1) surprised us with a zone we weren't prepared for; and (2) dictated the pace completely.

HCGM, to his credit, made the necessary adjustments at halftime and made sure that we pushed the tempo throughout the second half. The players then completely crapped their pants in the last six minutes.

I would probably agree with you on the dictated pace, but they did not suprise us with a zone. We know teams are going to play zone against us, everyone knows it, it is not a shock....It would seem that the preparation being made to play against the zone is to improve our three point game. But I seriously doubt that HCGM has not spent numerous hours in practice preparing for exactly what happened tonight

And on Selection Sunday, we'll be looking at this loss on our "Bad Losses" section along with Tennessee and Evansville.

Our defense has bailed out our offense time and time again this year. Our FG shooting is atrocious, our three point shooting is horrific and our free throw efficiency leaves something to be desired. The better team clearly won tonight and the better teams know our several weaknesses and have exposed us.

But you know what's really funny, ESPN hardly showed any of our games that we won while ranked, but I guarantee you they'll show our loss tonight.

The better team on a given night always wins, but the better team as a whole does not always win.

And on Selection Sunday, we'll be looking at this loss on our "Bad Losses" section along with Tennessee and Evansville.

I wasn't there, which is probably just as well -- home with family matters and a sick child -- so correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure Marshall didn't miss any shots tonight, did he?

Here's the story, in four words: WSU didn't show up. They got outrebounded, didn't defend, gave away baskets off bad turnovers, and in the last 4:12 of the first half were outscored 17-3 plus 14-1 in the last 4:17 of the game. That's 34-4 (!) in 8 1/2 critical minutes. Repeat: 34-4. You can't beat anyone doing that.

Yep -- losing at home is very costly: the equivalent of 1.4 losses. InSt is a good team with a good record and a respectable RPI, but home losses are still killers.

We had little energy and little focus for all but a few minutes - everyone. I do wish we would have went "big" at some point just to see if we could. Maybe CH, CE, and JW or EO in at the same time. They played big up front most of the game. Of course, if we can't get it inside or shoot it in the hole, it doesn't make much difference.

MVC a 3 bid league now. Unfortunately it came at our expense.
