He looks pretty athletic. His only other offer was ISU-Blue, so let's not get carried away. Starting his basketball career late, he might still be learning, growing in his game. We'll see.

That said, I do have a nephew that attends Creighton, he follows this stuff and knows all of the players very well. I also have nephews attending Drake, Bradley and another playing biddy ball at North Dakota State. Anyway, he told me that the big to really watch for Creighton would be Geof Grosell. I can't tell you much about him other than he red shirted last year and is a legit 7'er. From what my nephew has said, Grosell red shirted because there was enough depth in the post and Artino is really a combo 4-5, while Grosell is a pure center. Last year was a rare opportunity where Creighton had the luxury to sit a true big and develop him over a year of practice. I am told that Grosell is bigger, stronger, much more physical and quicker than Artino. That said, Artino really never impressed me last year and I probably would have excluded him from your list of legit centers, but then again, that is just my opinion, Artino could be a world beater and I'm just an idiot that is down on a quality player.

On the other hand, I did hear of a minor incident where Grosell got in a bit of trouble. He didn't break the law, fail classes or do anything really bad, I won't even tell anyone what happened, other than it was very minor. That said, it didn't impress me with his judgment and decision making.
I've seen Groselle and he certainly isn't more athletic or quicker than Artino. More physical, I can buy.

Word is that Artino has put on at least 15 lbs since last season and is one of the most improved players from last year. There are several accounts , including one from the OWH, discussing how well Artino has looked in the summer league so far. Despite looking physically awkward, Artino really is pretty athletic for a big (white) guy.

Ultimately, I don't think it matters as much for this year as Echinique will probably play most of the minutes.

I guess that means Jackie Carmichael must be in is 40s as he looks even older.

It must be a beard thing.

It's the bald head. Also the fact that he looks like Charles Barkley... in the present.

I don't quibble with your statement to not get carried away but where did you see that ISU Blue was his only offer? I seem to remember seeing multiple offers to lschools in the MVC and other conferences. He still has a lot of room to improve but I have a feeling that a lot of schools are willing to sign an athletic 6'9" 260 lb. 2nd team Jayhawk All Conference Player. He'll give EO everything that he wants every day in practice and both of them will improve because of it.

The following quote came off of his Shockernet Signing page. On the same page as this quote, there was a tweet from one of his Coffeyville Asst. Coaches that stated that he chose WSU over a number of high majors.

"After shortening a seemingly never ending list of NCAA schools, it came down to TCU, Georgetown, Missouri , WSU, Illinois, and Mississippi…ultimately selecting Wichita State to join best friend and fellow Canadian Nick Wiggins."

I'm taking his coaches words over that of Rivals. I like Rivals, but they don't always have the most up to date info on guys who aren't at the center of their radar.

It is an absolute rarity that Rivals or ESPN have correct or even timely updated information on any Mid-Major type schools. I'm with Sub on this, I trust the word of his coach over Rivals.

The real question is not whether 'Rack is a man or a boy. He is clearly a man-child at the very least. The question is how good of a D-1 basketball player will he be? The answer will be forthcoming over the next two years.

There is certainly some decent raw material available to build on.

                        That's the fact, Rack!

Pin, if you need proof not to rely on Rivals or other similar databases, just look at the Recruiting forum. If you go back a while, you can find literally a dozen cases, if not more -- the most recent being Tony Nunn, if vtshocker is correct about his committing to North Texas -- in which trop (who knows more than the CIA does) or others have reported that a player has offers from schools A, B, C, and D, plus interest from E, F, G, H, I, and J; and yet the guy ends up committing to school K (and sometimes signing with L, for that matter).

None of the rumors matter much until a player commits, and even then the verbal commitment sometimes is worth about as much as the paper it's printed on, so to speak.

Chadrack works his behind off. He will see plenty of court time.

You think Echenique is fat? Check out the :28 mark on this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mq3PxBbJQMs

If after watching that, you still think he's fat, I think you should consult an eye doctor.
