Chadrack Lufile: Man or Boy?

I don't think we have the post depth to redshirt Lufile. And wasn't in pin who during the recruiting process was certain tha we had to have another big anyway? And now you want to redshirt him? Ideally, you have four guys to rotate between the 4/5 positions. Ehimen, Hall, White and Lufile are those four.Infinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan

5 spot in my opinion will be by committee. Hall, EO and Lufile. Lufile was brought in for "instant" help at the 5. It will be a "rebounding/defense" position for the Shocks as neither Hall or EO possess good passing/create shot skills. Lufile will either adapt and thrive in D1 or he will sit and go the James A. route.

I'm not real sure what to think about Lufile yet. Even though its an accolade, I tend to look at things like "2nd team all conference" in juco as underwhelming. I have the impression that he may not be as solid as we would need starting off. Guys like Hannah, Ragland, Smith and Hall were fantastic adds right from the start, but they were highly touted coming in...kind of like Early and Wiggins. Like everyone has said, I expect them to be great. Lufile seems to me like a variable. On the other hand, I'm actually encouraged by the stuff I read from Trop. He said something like he got pulled into basketball by how apparent it was that he should play. It could be sort of like Orukpe...built for it but might take some time. He is going to be a big defensive body who sounds like he might be more athletic than what you would expect from someone with that size. I don't know. I want really bad for him to be great, but I guess my point is I have slightly lower expectations than I did with a guy like Hall. I do think he will be more useful than James Anacreon. I am on the side of thinking he probably won't redshirt, but I also still think we are going to see some fascinating roster management this year. There are going to be either some people getting beat out or some people who won't be as ready as we hope they will be. Makes me wish there was a Monday night radio show with Marshall all through the summer :)
I will say this about the redshirt thing for any of these players. I remember when they said Ellis might redshirt his senior year because we were so deep. Blair's back was in question so coach kept Ellis. Well, as much as I would have loved to have had Ellis an extra year, coach still got it figured out and we were awesome this year. On top of that, and my actual point, I can immediately remember a game winner at home against Creighton by Ellis, some of the best perimeter defense by a guy that size, and a near flawless game against Alabama in the NIT championship (along with Hatch...Ellis just didn't hit three's so it was less marquee of a performance) that helped enable the win. Good memories. :) I don't want anyone redshirting unless they just AREN'T ready. You never know who will have a big game when you really need it. How about Orukpe at Tulsa this year? Curses that I had to listen to all those blocks on the radio and didn't get to watch it. More memories! Can someone please get me a practice video or something before I start getting emotional.

That is all.

I also hope one of our boys comes in and makes the preseason player of the year (McD) finish second in the voting just like he did to Stutz this year.

You need at least 4.5 players for the two post positions for depth because foul problems can creep during any game. Especially when EO can go through 5 fouls in a 5-10 minute period of time w/o difficulty. That's why I think that they'll try to prepare Early to play the post if necessary and maybe on other occasions for matchup purposes (3 guard lineups, etc.).

I have no doubt that Early will play SOME 4 if/when needed. But I don't see him being part of the "regular" rotation inside. He'll do more for us at the 3 than the 4 and that's where we need him as much as possible.Infinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan

“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'”
