Next years season likely did hinge on Abmas IMO. He was the most likely star to come here that could have made next year a positive one. We didn't get a splash hire and there really isn't any buzz around the program outside of wichita (Like say there was with Tangs hire). HCPM being radio silent hasn't helped. I'm leaning towards it will be a multi year build .. if at all.

I really hope I'm proven wrong in the next few weeks but nothing since the hire has screamed we are ready to compete at the top of D1.

I was as hopeful we'd get Abmas as anyone out there, but think about it - he's not leaving to go somewhere after four years unless he REALLY wants to make a deep March run. If we were to even sniff the Dance next year, it would only be because of him at this point.

That Miami transfer is a solid get. These things take time. Breathe.

Who did he commit to? I choose to put my faith in ole shoxxxxxxxx or whatever the heck his handle is/was. Until I hear differently, I’m trusting him. No-one, I repeat no-one, would have posted what he posted yesterday, without being 99.9% sure.

For all the Pierre haters, brace yourself. He’ll go P5. My guess is he was tampered with and will end up at Arkansas. He didn’t go to coaches press conference. He didn’t get an NIL agreement with Armchair. I think the decision was made right after the previous staff was let go.

I'm in agreement with MadDog on this one. Although when JP didn't immediately jump into the portal after the IB firing, it made me think perhaps he would stay. In the first half of the season I groaned when Pierre came into the game. It was mostly clank three pointers with him, and no attempt to drive the basket. But he steadily improved during conference play, and by the end of the season (after Walton injury) I thought he was probably the second best player on the team after CP. His energy greatly improved and his three point shot improved some as well. So I think he will end up P5. I don't think it will be easy to replace him. And if he didn't get an NIL agreement then that just seems like a big mistake, unless Coach Mills believes he just isn't a good fit and wants the money going elsewhere. The interesting thing is going to be whether the NCAA really does stick to the one transfer rule (even with a coaching change) or if they hand out exceptions like candy to the P5 schools. I'm fairly certain they won't be handing them out to AAC schools and below. Anyway, its just another season of an entirely different team. I can't blame people for losing interest in college basketball. It is unique in that the players are just so visible on the court. So a big part of the fun was getting to know the players and seeing a player develop over the course of his four years.

Then it's also too ridiculously early for you to say it's dumb. We are all just throwing our opinions out here. Right now we lost the 5 top scorers off an average team and have brought in a decent Center and a guy with a 5.3ppg 39%/22%/63% 4 year (or 3.5) career average. Add to that we are likely missing out on our most realistic impact player for next year.

Right now the realistic take is that things don't have much momentum. The sunshine and rainbows take is that we will magically be better even without any buzz around the program. Neither are dumb, just different opinions.

Hmm... I hope we get him, but how could anyone ever be 99.9% sure in the world of NIL deals? Even if he said he had committed to WSU I wouldn't be that sure. I could just see something like this going down yesterday -

Lol .. ironically .. I feel i was always one for the more "positive" members of the forums too .. but something about the direction of the program isn't sitting right with me. Just not a good feeling about it. Maybe it's just more a realization that NIL/Transfer Portal sucks and we aren't good at navigating it lol
