Now, why we have two 2023 Transfer Portal threads in two separate forums is not clear to me but we do.

Couldn't agree more. It's confusing and simply redundant. A random 'Transfer Portal' discussion should be in the Around the NCAA thread, one would think. I myself could care less about any swinging peter that's looking for a good payday (unless he's interested in the Shocks of course).

HCPM has made it clear he's looking for a fit. To me at least, it kind of takes the fun out of looking for recruits. It's probably just me though. All I can hope for is that he can find some "fits".

It ain't just you. He 'downplayed' a reporter who asked about his thoughts on recruiting at WSU (heavy paraphrase there) and answered in the manner that was stated. There was no oh-so-obvious "you gotta' have the horses to pull the wagon" type response. We're in the 'Honeymoon' phase so I'll leave it at that.

I was a little deflated. His reply has stuck me with as I've been following along any with available recruiting news (or lack of).

I think there was nothing wrong with what he said. It seemed like pretty typical coach speak.

Also, what's wrong with recruiting for "fit"? Wouldn't you say schools like Houston, Creighton, Gonzaga, SDSU, Virginia, etc. all recruit for their "fit"/profile?

I get you want to have the best players possible, but fit is pretty damn important. You'd probably rather have a 4* recruit that was a perfect fit into your system than a 5* who isn't a fit but you hope you can make it work.

'22 four star recruit from Nebraska (Isaac Traudt) has entered the portal. Looks like he redshirt at Virginia this year. He's a 6'10" FR. Don't know much else about him.

I think I'm a little obsessed with adding size to the roster.

Former Valley Center HS player Joe Patrakis 6'10 PF/C in portal and "reportedly" wants to come home. Personally, I like local kids. PF is one of our needs. May, or may not, be a possible starter but a very experienced player who could play a lot of minutes.

Had no idea Valley was putting out D1 talent. I agree, love to see local kids play for WSU.
