  • Entertaining read. Thank you for sharing!

They seem like a reasonable group of basketball fans. That’s why I’m mortified now that y’all showed me the horrendous takes on those FB pages. Other teams’ fans might think that’s who we truly are!! How embarrassing.

    • I can’t seem to find anything on Spradlin. Anybody else? I’m looking for any sign that he’s not a dumpster fire hire and maybe he’s actually a Diamond in the rough. So please. Convince me.

Right now I’m all in on Sampson. Then DeVries I guess. Then a gun and then Spradlin

      • I will say. It appears they lost some players to the portal before this last season. One was their star player who transferred to Auburn and was considered one of the better players in the portal last year.

So would need to do some digging to see what kind of recruiting he has done. With our NIL getting stronger perhaps he could hold on to players easier here.

Not advocating for Spradlin at all. Just trying to dig to see what's there......just in case......

Morehead State star Johni Broome, who entered the transfer portal on Monday, immediately becoming one of the top-five transfers this spring, will consider, among other programs, Gonzaga, Ohio State, Auburn and Texas Tech as his potential next stop.

        • For the record, Spradlin would not exactly move the needle for me…

          …but…

I could at least see what Kevin would be thinking with this one. It’s a guy he knows and likely trusts. PS’s career is at least trending upwards with 20+ win seasons in the last three years.

Maybe with all the Kentucky connections, we could miracle our way into a series with Calipari’s squad. Okay, so maybe hell could freeze over as well, but I’m trying to think positive here.

          • I just can't see the big donors being on board with Spradlin. There's no way ADKS is making this decision in a vacuum.

            • Morehead St got four of its wins against non-D1 opponents this season and finished sub-200 in predictive metrics. They also lost six times to sub-200 teams as well. That’s…not great.

              • Some additional news:

MOREHEAD, Ky. -- The first in one of the most highly-ranked recruiting classes in program history, Mekhi Grant has inked his National Letter of Intent to join the Morehead State men's basketball program for the 2023-24 season.

                  Yeah, I agree.

It's just kind of impossible to really know how good he truly is. As this would be a pretty massive step up in competition. Even more so than for DeVries.

So it is a pretty massive risk.

Perhaps with better resources....etc...he could be a good coach. But at that point I would just rather take a chance on Sampson.

Interesting. I saw the stuff on the MSU forum where they indicated he had a great recruiting class. While I guess he might be hampered by NIL stuff, it’s still not a hire that would inspire confidence in this fanbase. And as a result, the first sign of turmoil might spell trouble for him and ADKS.

I think a stop at a stronger mid-major and conference for a few years would be best for him.

                      • Spradlin would move the needle for me - in the wrong direction. I think IB could have beat SEMO this year.

IB to Morehead after Drake hires Spradlin would make sense.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

Yep, I just don't see it. I will give anyone a chance, just like I did IB. But this wouldn't even rise to the level of underwhelming for me.

                          • Spradlin would get me right back in the "doomer" category...
