...and Mark Few would’ve been fired by now.

And Jay Wright and Tony Bennett. You know ... The winners of 3 of the last four NCs. Heck toss Roy Williams in there and you have the last 4

        • Game 2 and people are already doubting HCIB?
The players are behind the coach which is a great thing considering what they all have been through since August. HCIB has been Marshall’s right hand man for plenty of years. Pretty sure he knows what the hell he is doing. They have had about a month with him as head coach and have been playing short of the whole team the past couple weeks. His coaching style is NOT Marshall’s but he knows the system and it doesn’t seem like he wants to stray from that. I know I’m not throwing in the towel on IB after game two and our first loss.

          • Apparently, the threat of being choked out by your coach was quite the incentive to play help side D.

              Poor taste.

And Bill Snyder seemed to be able to turn around one of the worst D-1 programs, if not the worst, in the country. Just proves that their are different ways to motivate and inspire players. Some guys do it with fire and fury and some do it intelectually and calmly. However, I think a common thread is they all were demanding and capable of doling out discipline and there are numerous ways of doing that. I always thought one of the biggest motivational tools a coach has is control over playing time. That can be a very effective motivational tool.

Unfortunately wih such a short bench IHCIB's ability to use playing time as a motivational tool is pretty limited.

Hopefully “pretty limited” is soon a has-been term.

But it doesn't go against the status quo on this or any fan site.

I agree. Give the guy time with a full bench. He hasn’t even been able to practice with a full team since the season started.

Bill had a good number of Assistant Coaches who were following players closely (Stoops and Venables were huge at it early in their careers), giving fire and fury and yelling and chewing asses. He just didn’t do any of it himself and during the last years, there wasn’t much of it and KSU weren’t nearly as good.

Yup! And I noted the lack of Play Angry over the last two years in the We've Lost Our Edge thread. A prescient literary work indeed.

Because let's be honest, nobody comes after Gregg Marshall if he's still making runs in the tournament. He'd been "abusing" players for a long time. The only reason the giant was felled is because he looked vulnerable to the Shaq Morris types. Shaq figured Gregg had lost just enough shine to where he could take his revenge and not get totally ignored.

Revenge is a dish best served cold after all...

                            • I'll make a deal with ya'll; if Coach Brown is able to haul in a big stallion before his time is finished, I'll give him a more serious look. It really comes down to recruits in this game. If you can load a team up, you can just roll the ball out on the court and tell 'em to go get it.

The odds are heavily against him, but that is my offer. Take it or leave it.

You make a good point. I’m not usually openly critical on message boards and typically try to offer a little humor in the worst and best of times. On occasion, I’ve posted something very dumb during a game thread and will likely do it again. You’d think at my age, I’d have learned by now. There were some HOF dumb posts today both during and after the game... hopefully we got some of that ‘nastiness’ out of our systems.

IHCIB didn’t wish for this and certainly deserves our support, now more than ever. I don’t doubt he’s a good person and the players respect him, but he has a major uphill battle on his hands following in the footsteps of a surefire HOF coach.

P.S. Yes, I believe FHCGM will be selected to the Naismith HOF and will also have a banner hanging in Koch Arena. He deserves it and we deserve it.
