Like I said in another thread, it was a double edge sword for Wichita State.

We win by 21 and instead of getting love, we get tossed a side for the fact that Creighton is struggling.

It didn't matter that we whipped them in Omaha, because they had lost 2 in a row. It didn't matter that we whipped UNLV because we were at home. When we win 2 games in the tourney, it won't matter because we had more seniors than the teams we played. It won't matter next year when we win 3 games, because we have an experienced Coach.

I guess we'll just have to win the whole f***king thing!

And we would still have people who will find something to moan about. Sometimes we need to enjoy the ride and realize the Shocker arrow is pointing up and as things currently stand it will continue in an upward trend!

Outside of the BCS conferences, beating a ranked team in your conference is proof that the team was overrated. In the BCS conferences, it's proof that it is incredibly difficult to play the rigorous schedule the league provides.

In the BCS conferences, losing to a mid-tioer team in your league is proof that it is incredibly difficult to play the rigorous schedule your conference provides. Outside the BCS conferences, losing to a mid-tier team in your conference is proof that your team has obvious weaknesses.

I don't really care what the polls say. Recruits who will do well under Gregg Marshall's coaching will need to be tough and smart. That kind of recruit is likely to look at the product on the court, not the polls, and realize that this is a REALLY GOOD program.

Can we avoid the angst and focus on the team? If we are not ranked, then we are not ranked. If we are not on ESPN enough, so be it. As long as we take care of business, everything will be fine.

10. Wichita State Shockers - This is the best mid-major team in the country. All of the mid-major proponents talk about road games, and the Shockers are better on the road than at home. Wichita State does not really force turnovers, but it limits you to one shot and takes care of the ball. Joe Ragland, the lefty JC transfer, played his best game at Creighton. I don't think it is disrespect. You aren't going to get a great deal of interest even if you're winning in your conference when you're in the MVC. The pundits have greater, bigger (and to them more interesting) fish to fry. Respect is earned and we are now earning it. Just give it time. I'm with Spangler in that if we are ranked, great -- if not, then we have to try harder. As long as we keep winning, the respect (and the ranking) will come. We are getting a lot more interest right now so we can't afford to drop the ball. MSU is no pushover, nor is Ill State -- and we won't even talk about Drake right now (who just put on a show beating E'ville). If we fall on our collective face with any of these three last games (and Davidson), then do we even deserve to be ranked. All we have to do is tend to business and the rest will take care of itself. The team needs to be intent on the next game, not the press we are or are not receiving. Don't get me wrong, I couldn't be prouder of the way the guys have handled themselves so far, but they (and we) need to keep our perspective and keep our emotions in check. See you Wednesday night.
