Our losses are quality losses and we have a blowout win against a top25 team, creighton has two losses neither of which are to ranked teams (But they are not bad losses) and Creighton gets 230 votes in one poll to our 13....

All the love that could have been WSU is going to Mcdermott....

RPI has WSU #32, just ahead of KjSU.

The Rivals/Yahoo Team Ranker has fans ranking pairs of 93 teams, none of which are Wichita. This is the real problem, not being in the 93-team comparison list.

We only have ourselves to blame for this. Take care of business at home against Creighton and we'd be ranked in the top 20.

Can't argue with that statement. We beat Creighton at home, and not only are we ranked top 20, but we would have a 14 game win-streak. We'd be classified as one of the hottest teams in basketball.

What. Could. Have. Been. Story of our lives for a couple seasons now. We just have to really take care of business the remainder of the schedule.

No problem -- no need for attention, just wins. How much attention do you suppose VCU was getting at this point last year? Besides, maybe McDermott will start believing his press clippings.

It's a popularity contest right now. You would think that our road wins would count for something...not.

On December 12th, we received one vote in the AP poll. From then until now, we have gone 9-1 with 4 road victories. This earned us two more votes. Interesting.

All about money. Sucks...but that's all I can ever trace it back to. Remember...Wichita gets in Top-25 (or any other mid)...it takes away a bid from the "fakers". And by fakers...I'm talking about piss-poor bcs teams that get "in" tourney because of conference affiliation and tv sets.

The hard, cold reality is that our only chance to get ranked before the post-season is to beat Creighton in Omaha.

And that will only get us ranked if we pretty much win out until then and Creighton is still ranked when we play them.

Beating UNI on Wednesday might have got us ranked if UNI hadn't lost so many Valley games, the same with MoSt and Indy State. Had those teams not tanked in Valley play, then wins over them might have generated enough attention to get us significant votes in the top 25.

Remember we only have 2 top 100 rpi wins right now. One is a huge win over #10 UNLV the other is our 9 point win over #63 Colorado.

Indy State, which prior to Valley play was a top 50 team is now a sub 100 team.

As it is, CU is the only Valley team that the national pollsters will see as a significant enough win to get us ranked.

Interestingly, we're only on two of the 65 AP ballots.

Steve Walentik, of the Columbia, Mo., Daily Trib, picked us No. 24, and Paul Klee, of the Champaign, Ill., NewsGazette, has us No. 25.

No votes from the closest two markets with a vote: Steve Pivovar in Omaha or Tom Keegan in Lawrence.

“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'

Of course Pivovar didn't have us ranked - the guy's OWH Valley "power rankings" listed Missouri State, CU and WSU as his top 3... in that order.

Give Pivovar a break, he's an idiot. I'm not sure but I think when the World Herald hired him they got federal funds for hiring someone mentally challenged.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

UNI is still in the top 100. RealTimeRPI.com has them at #40. They also still have MSU and DU in the top 100.
