Wonder if KC Shox still feels so certain about the big fella being gone now?

Schebler to the Dodgers in the 26th. Still no Springer or Coy.

I hope Schebler shows up. I think the SHOX lineup will have good pop with a Schebler, Coy, Springer 3-4-5.

Although he could be a bust, never know till they get here.

Logan Hoch taken by the Detroit Tigers in Round 30 as day 2 of the draft comes to an end.

Shockers (or Shocker recruits) taken so far:

Jordan Cooper - 9th round by Cleveland

Scott Schebler - 26th round by LA Dodgers

Logan Hoch - 30th round by Detroit

Another 20 rounds or so tomorrow. So far not a lot of love for Shocker players.

Well, it certainly does look like he will be back. However, we all know being drafted in the later rounds has very little to do with how much money is offered them - i.e. Dusty Coleman.

I think Cooper is back and he makes way more money next year in Pelfrey fashion.

I hope Coop comes back. He certainly deserves a lot more than 9th round money.

If Coop gets a decent offer from Cleveland, he won't be back. Coop doesn't project anything like Pelfrey - he just doesn't have a big body and live arm to the caliber of Pelfrey that lights up the radar guns. That isn't going to change with another season in college.

I liken him to Kennie Steenstra. Smart pitcher who knows how to get outs and leaves hitters muttering under their breath when the turn around and head back to the dugout. He can be a MLB pitcher, he just needs to get in the pros and prove he can get outs.

Adios Mr. Cooper. Thanks for saving us from more than a few L's this year. You are a stud and I wish you bigtime success in the future.

                              Hmmm...

Well, 85, he does have some similarities to Steenstra, but follow that line of thinking: how long did Steenstra play at WSU?

The key difference is that, as Kemnitz and other posters quoting him) have noted, Cooper has room for improvements that could move him up significantly. Steenstra, by contrast, was close to his ceiling long before he ever left WSU -- which is why he was such a great college pitcher, but also why he barely made a ripple at tye major league level.

Nice article on Coop from cjonline.com (Topeka Capital Journal):

It is time again for Jordan Cooper to weigh pros and cons. The former Shawnee Heights standout, coming off a strong season pitching for Wichita State, was selected Tuesday in the ninth round of the…
