That article is on the front page of the sports page today in the Topeka Capital Journal. It is at the bottom of the page, going clear from one side to the other with a nice picture of Coop pitching.

Minnis to Atlanta in the 33rd Round. Pick number 1,004.“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'”

I couldn't be more pleased with the way the draft progressed.
Going in, I was working under the following assumptions:
Cooper- 80% chance he leaves, likely a top 6 or 7 round draft pick
Kelley- 30% chance he leaves, had him pegged at a round in the low teens
Coy- 30% chance he leaves, was praying he wouldn't get taken in the first 6 rounds
Springer- 20% chance he leaves, figured he'd go in a round somewhere in the twenties
Minnis- 75% chance he never shows, figured he would go near the twentieth round
Now we are looking at a situation where Kelley, Coy and Springer are certain to return. Cooper is now in coin-flip territory, and Minnis would be silly not to come giving the slot he went in.
If Cooper returns we will have one hell of a wicked starting staff next season. Possibly our best ever, and that's saying a lot. However, our starting pitching will still be outstanding even if he takes the money.
I tend to think Jordan will end up coming back. He seems to be uniquely focused on the goal of law school and realizes that he will likely make a check for many more years in a courtroom than he will on a ball diamond. Sort of like Charlie Giaudrone many years ago. I think he comes back for one more season, loads up on credit hours and gets that much closer to his degree before he departs for a similar offer after next season.
I hope I'm right

I kind of have mixed feeling on the draft. On the positive side, it appears that the draft will not take much of a toll on our draft eligible players and incoming recruits and we have at least some hope that Jordan Cooper might return for his Junior season, although that is still way up in the air.
I think the fact that Grant Muncrief, coming off of TJ surgery and with his numbers, was drafted tells us that Grant does have pretty good stuff. If he can improve his command and pitchability he could be very effective next year. A solid year from Grant to really boost his stock in next year's draft.
As WSU_Mom said it was a little surprising that Tim Kelley was undrafted. I guess the pros want their 6'6", 225 lb righties to be flamethrowers. Tim should come back next year highly motivated to put up some good numbers.
Getting Johnny Coy and Preston Springer back to anchor the middle of the lineup is also a nice positive and I expect both of these young men to also be highly motivated.
My guess is that both Scott Schebler and Albert Minnis will be Shockers this fall although you just never know for sure with the scholarship situation in college baseball and how motivated some young guys are about going to school.
On the negative side, you could argue that the lack of love sent our way indicates we simply are not getting the talent we have in the past. OTOH, just because the pros don't go after a player does not necessarily mean they will not make a good or even outstanding college player.
Also, other issues can come into play in the draft, especially signability (see Johnny Coy thread).
Case in point: Kevin Tokarski of Illinois State turned 21 on April 21st so he should have been draft eligible. 2010 MVC Player of the Year, 1st team Ping All-American and 3rd team Louisville Slugger All-America was not drafted. Not sure if this was a signability issue or if his size (5'11", 175 lbs) may have deterred his draft status. In any case, I know I would love to have a kid like this in a Shocker uniform.

2010 Major League Baseball draft selections: Rounds 41-45
Round 43
1303. Detroit, Blake Bell, RHP, Bishop Carroll Catholic HS, Wichita, Kan.
I wonder how good he could have been if he would have concentrated on baseball instead of football?
