Then we're back to being in the MVC again and it's us, UCONN and Memphis (Maybe Temple) alone with a bunch of scrub teams.

Let's hope the AAC can somehow slide into the Power 5 conferences and make it a Power 6. Houston, UCF and Navy retaining their levels as a football schools would help that immensely.
IMO more likely the Big 12 will be poached by the SEC, B1G and/or PAC12 than expand by adding "...Houston, SMU Cincy and UCF".

    • Aresco was scheduled to meet with ESPN in December. Does anybody know if this already occurred? If the meeting already took place it might mean ESPN is behind the move.

            • I guess my question is when Rothstein says "basketball-only" does he mean all sports but football or just basketball? The article really doesn't specify this. There's really only four sports that would have to travel in a match-up format rather than the tournament or pool format that cross country, golf and track use. Those sports would be women's basketball, baseball, softball and volleyball.

No. WSU isn't going to any conference that doesn't take all its sports.

              • For clarity, basketball-only in regards to the AAC is pretty clearly linked to the division between the football schools and the basketball schools that split off to form the Big East: Part 2. Obviously those schools kept their Olympic sports in the conference; basketball-only from an AAC perspective is exclusively talking about money-making sports, and fear the conference has of division between teams with just basketball and teams with both sports.

                • Yep, Basketball only means "Olympic" sports to them. We are not a one trick pony and would strengthen the AAC with most of our Olympic sports. There a couple asterisks, but we're pretty damn salty as evidenced by the last umpteen All Sports Trophies.

She forgot to have the cameraman or weather guy proof her copy before going on air.

I could maybe forgive SDS as a brain cramp, but, yes, just how could you come up with Sacramento St.?

                      • I had to Google Sacramento State. I was unaware there was a school with that name.

It's the 0-7 Hornets from the Big Sky, with their 0-7 record and their 320 rpi. The 7 losses include a loss to UC-Davis, with an rpi of 290.

I bet the Hornets fans don't complain about empty seats in the student section. There won't be enough people in the rest of the seats to notice whether any students showed up.

Somebody set her up to make her look like a fool. She may not have needed any assistance in creating that appearance.

If this rumor boils down to our men's basketball team joining the AAC for women's rowing, I'm going to be really disappointed.
