There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

If the P4 (16x4) numbers to 64, then the last 10-20 school are on rocky ground and debatable. Louisville has just as strong a case as KU does. Thus, KU is not a shoe in according to this article.

I still think Kansas squeaks in somewhere, but it is a close call. Those that think KU would be a slam dunk addition to the B1G, Pac, SEC or ACC need to look past blind loyalty. If it comes down to a P-4 scenario, It really is going to be a razors edge either way. There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. That article relates to football only; not the entire athletic program, academic program, alumni strength, TV market attraction, endowment.
Do you really think KSU would be included while KU excluded?
No chance.

Unfortunately, that is all the consolidation is about. It's not about fair play, it's not about the best interests of the student athletes, it's not about playing the best competition, it's about football money. And that's where it stops. If you think it's about basketball, academics, media markets or history, look at Nebraska. They have none of that, they have football.
With that, there are ten spots available. Texas and Oklahoma are automatics, so is BYU and one or two others, so you really are looking at four to five openings. I think KU gets in, barely, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were left out, either. There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. They already want to raise their tuition and academic requirements above the other State schools."Don't measure yourself by what you have accomplished, but by what you should accomplish with your ability."

It matters because the conferences are in control of football revenue, not the NCAA. For baseball and basketball, the NCAA is in control. So while strong programs in the other sports are nice and all, football is the driver because realignment is all about the money. The other bits are great when they work out, but it's ultimately about how much money a program brings to the conference, and for conferences, football is where the money is at.

Just a quick summation of some (not all)of the teams that would be vying for one of the ten openings. Some don't have a shot, but when you look at the list, and know that the decisions will be football driven, and only ten make the cut, if your school isn't good at football, you should be concerned.
Boise State
Colorado State
Air Force
New Mexico
Utah State
Nevada
UNLV
SDSU
Fresno State
Southern Miss
La Tech
Cincinnati
Memphis
Texas
Texas Tech
Baylor
SMU
Oklahoma State
Oklahoma
Kansas
Kansas State
Iowa State
West Virginia
Notre Dame (should the ACC force the Irish in or out)
