Agreed. I lived in Memphis for 3 years and felt the same way. Both cities can get real scary, real quickly. It's all not fun and alcohol...and out-of-towners are an easy target.

    • First American competition is volleyball September 22 at Temple.

Aresco will be in Wichita September 24 and 25 to celebrate WSU's entry into the American. that's when WSU will have its own celebration. The "official" entry July 1 will probably have some advertising starting in late June, but other than that will be quiet.

The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

Just continue to be impressed with this league and it's leadership. Frankly. pretty darned humbled. We, as WSU supporters, have our hands full to make our presence worthy of the invitation.

We cannot be good enough ambassadors for this conference, at least in the foreseeable future. From welcoming visiting fans, and showing the Midwest hospitality we are known for, to suggesting and selling the best parts of our fair city, to traveling and spending our dollars in their markets, and in supporting the league even when we aren't involved. For instance, what I hope is the usual sizable ShockerNation contingent at the AAC Basketball tourney sticks around and is loud and supportive on Sunday, even if our guys are eliminated Friday (I hope not, but you get my point).

Setting up some kind of ShockerNation welcoming tent or table to our visiting friends (most likely family members) for volleyball and women's basketball etc would be an excellent way to put our best foot forward and thank the conference. Just off the top of my head.

And all you guys thought we'd be playing that role! :wink-new:

I warned you about the Cincinnati folks. At least we have the results to back up any trash talk. Bearcat fans will act like basketball royalty (bringing up their 7 straight tourney bids), while failing to acknowledge their craptastic tourney record. There's a handful of schools that I always pick against in the first round of the big dance: Vandy, Creighton, and Cincinnati. Works every time!

UC has (somehow) lost to Creighton in recent tourney history, so there's that bit of hilarity for us Shocker fans. They join a tiny club of non-autobid schools to somehow lose to the Blowjays in March.

                    • That was great! It is always good to see and hear those guys. I loved the part about how HCGM keeps them in the family to the point that they almost feel like they played for him. What a wonderful testament to a great coach and a great program.
