  • Do you think Boatright or Bardo make suggestions on who to bring in to the Valley? No announcement has been made about leaving the Valley, so I'm sure that they've been invited to this "emergency meeting", right?

The britches comment was made by the SIU AD, Tommy Bell, not Elgin. The thing is the SIU AD was absolutely right. The Shockers had grown to big for their Valley britches. There is really no denying that. He most likely didn't mean it as a complement but the bottom line is that Wichita State had, in fact, outgrown the Valley.

I'm thinking we will not be (or are not) invited to the party because by the time they have it, we will be in another conference.

The emergency meeting is because we provided our notice, if I had to guess.

To those concerned, I get that, I wasn't serious that our esteemed President and AD would be there.

Or maybe that's when we deliver the "certified mail" of our intent to leave. Once it's delivered sitting in that room representing WSU would be the most uncomfortable and awkward place to be in the world. "Wanna get away?"

Sorry, you can tell when I've spent too long looking at posts and comments on the Shocker Faithful FB group. My meter gets all messed up.

I get it. I rarely post but I'm ready for this thing to be going I'm getting a little snarky.

Exactly my guess too. And if we provided our notice, then that means the AAC presidents have already voted and everything is in place, it just hasn't been announced yet.

I wouldn't be surprised if the other schools are actually celebrating.

I've said for a long time that the other schools were jealous of the resources of Creighton and WSU and, if they had their druthers, would have liked us to be part of another conference. The removal of the scheduling mandate was their passive aggressive way of giving both of us the finger. Deep down, they knew they couldn't compete financially and frankly did not want to try. Some of them were beholden to div 2 football while others just were too cheap or clueless.

Good luck in the new conference. I predict that, like Creighton fans, you are gonna love the move. Playing ranked teams regularly seems so foreign at first and is difficult to fathom. At the same time, it is frickin awesome! You quickly forget and never miss the games against the Evansvilles, Indiana States, and Drakes.

(BTW, what the hell is going on at UConn? Are they going to have enough players to field a team when the season rolls around?)

I suppose we have some walkons we can loan them if we're feeling in a generous mood.

Hey, by the way, you guys should play us in like December sometime. I dunno, just a crazy thought. Our RPI next year should be about 800 times better...

                            • Maybe the emergency meeting is to gouge us with exit fees and they want them in place before being served notice.
