The gain you were taxed on has vanished. You’ve already paid a 25% tax on a gain that no longer exists, leaving you with a financial loss and no real benefit. Taxing unrealized gains would force investors to sell off assets to cover their tax bills, hurting long-term investment and economic growth. This isn’t just risky; it’s a recipe for a stock market crash and another Great Depression.
Doubt anyone on this board has a net worth of over a hundred million so we'll be excluded from the tax.
Shocker fan for life after witnessing my first game in person, the 80-74 win over the #12 Creighton Bluejays at the Kansas Coliseum.

It's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. It should also make everyone in the country realize she is an absolute moron. But it will just be for those with a net worth over $100 million. So that makes sense.

Just my math here, but in 5-10 years of paying this tax, your capital gain is practically gone, in addition to your cash.

Seems to me that you will sell your gain, pay the tax once, and you will not be investing anymore.

      Sounds great.

            • I did not know Obama’s maternal grandmother was born in Peru, Kansas.
I recall from somewhere that his mother was born in Wichita and lived in Augusta.

                  • Just like all the fake ass Hollywood elite and celebrities and a lot of the professional athletes who are left-wing socialist kooks but built their fortunes on the back of capitalism. It’s hilariously bizarre. More importantly, FAKE.

I'm not sure about this. But don't investment firms, like most people use for their retirement accounts, company 401's, purchase stocks in bulk and divide out the dividends to individuals based on each individuals investment?
If so, just about everyone would be affected.

No I don't, but I only need 99,999,900 more, so I need to look out for my future!

HRC's portion was not based her investment. She got a MUCH larger share. Most people never knew or have forgotten

Oh dear God! Reign him in Pin! Can't have ANYBODY thinking outside the narrow lines of the party dogma. Keep carrying the water of the uber rich btw. They really appreciate it.

Millennials are set to inherit over 90 trillion in the coming years. They will be the richest generation in history. I'm guessing that's more than enough cabbage to keep their noses full of coke.

I do wish the middle-class could have gotten a larger portion of the new wealth through direct investment. Trying to fix the wealth gap by pounding on the heads of the rich is ultimately counterproductive. Their money is very mobile.

I'm okay with more pain on the heirs/trust fund babies. unearned money is by-and-large very corrosive to the soul.

Ya'll just need to calm down. Turn off the GD talk radio. The end of the world is not coming... yet.
