Curious as to how the boards of refiners foresaw the Biden administration 50 years into the future when making their investment decisions? Possibly more at work than the Biden administration? Would have had Nixon, Ford, Reagan, Bush, Bush, and Trump admins for a good portion of those facilities’ useful lives.

I don’t think that the hiatus on refinery builds is Biden’s fault, but rather the EPA regs in the US vs other safer ways to create profitability.

But the lack of refinery capabilities didn't cause us to have $7.00 p/g prices, and probably $10.00 future prices ( or more), not to speak of extremely high Natural Gas prices to heat next winter.. If Biden hadn't killed the Canadian pipeline his first few months into his Presidency, threatened the Eastern U.S. pipeline when it ran into difficulties early in 2021, ended drilling on public lands, made statements that he was going to end fossil fuels soon, etc., the energy companies would have most likely spent the money to keep those last refineries in business, and made sure that our gradual transition to renewables was less painful. This movement by the left to immediately move to renewables, when we don't yet, have the technology to do it, is an elitist strategy, and could care less about middle and lower income Americans.

I'm not sure if Bobb is just defending the indefensible Biden, or if he truly believes that our transition to renewables should be as painful as possible.

I wasn’t implying that refining capability caused the price to soar, I was implying that regulations preclude supply and demand, which would bring the cost into check.

Buy the rumor, sell the fact. No other industry reacts as wildly to this as the oil industry. So yes, Biden campaigning on "shutting down the oil industry" had a huge impact on current prices. Compounding that was his action by immediately attacking the gas and oil industry via executive order on day one, exacerbated the rumor. Biden's words meant things, his actions meant more. We don't have high gas prices because of the Russians, we have high gas prices because of Biden. This isn't hard, Bobb.

Now, if you want to discuss why there aren't refineries being built in the US, we can have that discussion as well. That said, very little of that blame falls on Bush, Bush or Reagan. Bobb, you might want to quietly back out of the room and gently close the door behind you hoping nobody notices. This is a topic in which facts seriously outgun you.

Oil is a commodity. It has huge price swings based on the words and deeds of world leaders.

Phil Flynn, a senior account executive/market analyst at the Price Futures Group and FOX Business contributor, warned that strict regulation under the Biden administration will continue to put pressure on refineries to stay in business.

"It wasn't too long ago the country was clamoring for the industry to buy and build new refineries because they couldn't keep up with demand," Flynn said Monday.

It does show the powerlessness of our President who can't even get one of our two largest trading partners to be influenced by us on almost everything. Instead Mexico courts far eastern powers, and Socialist leaders like Venezuela, (Meduro), China, India, and Cuba.

You cannot convince me that a bi-partisan attempt in the states to pass a Constitutional Amendment limiting both Congress and Senate to 1 or 2 terms wouldn't pass with room to spare.

We all know there's zero chance 2/3s of the House and Senate will do it, so my understanding it would take 2/3s of the State legislators to bring a constitutional convention (none of the 27 amendments have gone this route). So 34 states could bring this to the National Archives and Records Administration and then to vote in each of the 50 states, 38 of which would need to vote in the affirmative to make it part of the Constitution.

I'm not saying it would be easy, but it is certainly possible. I believe 34 states at least would be a lock to vote yes. 30+ states are controlled by Republicans. This can be done, IF there is some backbone at the state level.

The problem with a constitutional convention, from what I remember as it's been a while, is that if called, everything is then on the table. I don't think it can be called and restricted to any one specific thing. All current amendments would be up for debate and anything else added would as well. I do know that most states have groups that are constantly pushing for one, but I don't think we've ever approached the amount needed at any given time.
