According to the CDC website, best as I can tell, out of almost 550,000 available hospital beds in the US, fewer than 1600 are COVID related as of July 31st week.
Covid is NOT filling hospitals today and media or politicians saying or suggesting otherwise is an out and out lie.

Counting the total available ICU beds is incredibly misleading. In areas with high vaccination rates, there are high numbers of hospital beds available. The on the ground facts are that areas with low vaccination rates are running out of hospital beds.
Covid is filling hospital beds in areas with low vaccination rates. Using the national average ignores the fact that localities with high vaccination rates have low numbers of covid hospital entries or deaths.Comment

Sunday Florida COVID-19 update: Current hospitalizations nearing 14,000, HHS reports
The 13,793 novel coronavirus patients in 251 hospitals in Sunday’s HHS update represented a relatively small spike from the 13,747 reported Saturday. Similarly small was the increase in intensive care unit beds used for COVID-19 patients, 2,767 from 2,750.
But, they were increases. Also, lest there be any doubt the pandemic’s resurgence is a bigger problem for Florida hospitals than hospitals elsewhere, 24.4% of all Florida hospital patients are classified as COVID-19 patients — compared with 8.7% nationally. As for ICU beds, 43.8% of those are taken up by COVID-19 patients in Florida. Nationally, that number is 19.4%.Comment
