  • Btw, there was a basketball game yesterday Cold. Probably a good thing you didn’t know about it. Or maybe you did via your KState football fanatic club membership notification?
    Deuces Valley.
    ... No really, deuces.

On the "Covid presents no real harm" thing. I've lost people to COVID. I've had coworkers hospitalized for weeks. I know people who still haven't recovered taste and smell more than 6 months after getting sick. That's real harm. Happily, there's very recent reason to believe that omicron won't be a big problem from a hospitalization, illness and death standpoint, largely thanks to the vaccinations that some right-wing "news" sources are trying to suppress. I hope that continues to hold true.
Are you and Clod close brothers? He says you are.

You missed the point. The American Thinker is using a model for 5-11 year olds. politifact and USA Today is debunking a tweet about 12-16 year olds. They aren’t talking about the same thing.

The second point you missed: We were discussing vaccination in children. I was referencing harm to children.

You’re spending a lot of time disproving points that weren’t made.

He's only in office for another 3 weeks. I heard a business owner say today during an interview, "I hate that Mayor". Another restaurant owner ranted a little and then asked "Do I sound bitter"?

                • New Yorkers loudly gripe and moan about the result of Democrat policies, so they vote in a new Democrat.

                  • I may be speaking a little out of turn here but... if/when we gain a statistically significant sample size on Omicron virulence, and it can be confirmed as a relatively harmless mutation relative to the prior we've experienced, it may be time to roll out the infection parties and shoot for endemicity. Flood the community with Omicron giving Delta no more room to cause harm. Similar to using explosives to put out an oil well fire. It's a gamble, as there is nothing written in stone that Omicron signals the end, but I think the experts may find it to be a good one. At least it temporarily slows the harm from Delta.

Just as I finished typing this I discovered the fault in my logic. Dropping all mitigation practices and encouraging infections will also create a temporary Delta spike in some regions causing needless death and suffering. First do no harm. We must maintain the course. The top experts are way ahead of me. Thankfully we have an administration that listens to them.

                    Carry on.

                      • Oh, and please put some more teeth in the vaccine mandates protecting the millions who've been (and continue to be) misled by nutjobs/propagandists. The 3-day Covid death average is hitting 1,500 again (the vast majority unvaccinated), and we're just entering the peak illness season.

Back up to 150,000 daily (Delta majority) infections. Long Covid is the real threat, exceeding Covid deaths by orders of magnitude. Every non-vaccinated Delta infection averted, will pay dividends down the road (Epidemiology 101).

In their defense, DeBlasio was much closer to a socialist than your average Democrat and the incoming mayor is a little more reasonable. So it's not like they're voting for the same policies there. I also have no idea who ran in other parties to know what kind of choice voters were facing.

This is GREAT news! But it needs to be handled on the federal level. You don't fight a global/national war state-by-state.

Furthermore: I would like to see more public discourse about dealing with the rampant problem of disinformation campaigns and propaganda. Technology has far surpassed the laws in our nation and the "good of the people" is suffering because of it.

                            18 U.S. Code § 1038.False information and hoaxes

Whoever engages in any conduct with intent to convey false or misleading information under circumstances where such information may reasonably be believed and where such information indicates that an activity has taken, is taking, or will take place that would constitute a violation of chapter 2, 10, 11B, 39, 40, 44, 111, or 113B of this title, section 236 of the Atomic Energy Act of 1954 (42 U.S.C. 2284), or section 46502, the second sentence of section 46504, section 46505 (b)(3) or (c), section 46506 if homicide or attempted homicide is involved, or section 60123(b) of title 49 is liable in a civil action to any party incurring expenses incident to any emergency or investigative response to that conduct, for those expenses.

                            (d)Activities of Law Enforcement.—
This section does not prohibit any lawfully authorized investigative, protective, or intelligence activity of a law enforcement agency of the United States, a State, or political subdivision of a State, or of an intelligence agency of the United States.
Something along these ^^^ lines would suffice. Perhaps add national emergencies (pandemics) to the list of qualifying events. Then you go after guys like Tucker Carlson et al., and shut them down one at a time. The people of our country without common sense need to be held accountable for their words, because words can absolutely kill in the right circumstances.
