See BA's post above... WP has a least experienced a sweet sixteen... to me that's enough to keep him around next year. You need at least one senior on the team for leadership even if he can't throw it in the ocean. I'm not going to take the time to look this up, but didn't WP actually play in all 3 games in the NCAA tournament? If so, I rest my case. Some of you are simply knuckleheads.

My question then is this: If he has been to sweet 16 and they need him for senior leadership, then why isn't he stepping up now when there is no leadership on the team? If he was a leader, he would have stepped up already. But my guess is he isn't and therefor probably won't be much of a factor at all next year. Basically just someone taking up a scholarship.
Good points rr! There's more to leadership than what shows up on the court. Cameron Ledford and Nick Rogers played seldom, however they were good for the team... I'm not sure they would be considered great floor leaders. Unless WP has a bad attitude, he can still be a leader off the court... i.e., set a good example to the new players (and there will be many of them) about good study habits, staying out of bars, and presenting WSU in a positive manner. Maybe it's just me, but I really think we need a true (4 year) senior on next years team... I believe WP is our only choice at this point.

Wendall is probably a nice guy, but clearly no leader. I think the coach knows that next year, he had better produce something, or it will be a bad reflection on him. He will do whatever he thinks needs to be done.

'If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen'. Pinstripers said it straight away in his post, you're here to get a free Education by playing basketball, and if you are not helping the team, or are a subpar player, you need to go.

        Just a thought.

It's crossed my mind but I'm not sure the depth of next years team will be comfortable enough to RS someone. Lots of potential but you just really never know. Although I guess if they see something through the early practices.....

With Hawkins, Griz, Durley, Clemente and one more (which we need to even make it a possibility) at the forward positions, I think we'd be Ok without Aaron. But if any of them go down, his RS could be pulled.
In the post game show tonight, Marshall said he would like to redshirt Ellis next year.

          re:

Anyone know who the recruit was sitting behind our bench last night? He was wearing an orange letter jacket that said "J Will" on the back. Looked like a point guard. Strange thing was I noticed his sleeve said "07" so he apparently already graduated - - don't know if he's a Juco or prep school.

He didn't appear to be tall enough to be Beckham. And I also don't think Beckham plans on visiting until after the season. And if it did say J Will on it, it wouldn't be Twany either. I don't recall any Williams on the list. At least not off the top of my head.

I'll defer to Coach...it's his job to lose. If he wants to get fired for being a nice guy with players that don't perform, that's his decision.

The only 'J Will' I could find was in reference to Jason Williams, point guard for the Miami Heat. We definately need a guard with these skills:

^thing is he's a bad character guy and he's not even that good. Jason Kidd, Chris Paul or Steve Nash is the way to go

I wouldn't want a wife beater like J Kidd. Give me a Steve Nash any day though.

The thing is, if it was a Miami heat jacket, he is probably from around Orlando.

Here are a couple of "J Will's" from the '07 class:

                              J'Courtney Williams (6'2")

                              Jamal Williams (6'0")

I'll give you a wild guess based on absolutely no facts. There is a 6'3" Guard at Rice University who is a freshman named Jasen Williams. He is not playing this semester because of academics. That's as good a guess as I have.
