Looks like he is a man of character and I have no doubt he will be sending in his letter in November. Its nice to read about a young man that follows his instincts even though there are others willing to jump on his bandwagon now. Looking forward to seeing him in the yellow and black. The other part is he always gets assigned to guard the other teams best player speaks volumes.

Once again this coaching staff is in on top notch recruits from the ground floor, and pick them up due to loyalty and success during the right time these recruits are achieving things around their summer ball circuit.
This sounds exactly like the FVV situation. Let's hope that Zach has as much character as Fred, because this team's future is looking brighter with every recruit we get a commitment from.

With Mr. Brown being a top 150 recruit, does choosing WSU get that number closer to 100? It happens when kids sign with Duke or KU or UNC. Why not WSU?
And I too, like so many on here, look forward to seeing this kid play at 21st and Hillside.

Saw this kiddo play 5 or 6 times before he left for prep school and you could tell he has a lot of potential. He was never dominant his junior year but you could tell his upside was high. He ran the floor REALLY well, suspect shooter, and has really good feet to match his length. If he has improved as much what has been said, he is a great sign!Last edited by htown44; May 9, 2013, 03:41 PM.

Interesting comment from htown about Brown being a "suspect shooter" in the past. Every once in a while you'll find a guy who simply can't shoot -- no touch, bad aim, whatever -- but usually guys can progress with practice: Tekele Cotton just during the past season, for example. If Brown is in the Cotton category and spends a lot of time this summer and next season working on his shot, and he has the other characteristics htown (and, obviously, WSU's coaches) have seen, we can't get his signature on the dotted line and get him on campus soon enough.
Welcome, welcome, welcome, Zach! Hope you're ready for another Shocker run to the Final Four.

That said, your point is well taken. Hopefully Zach has been and continues to develop his perimeter shooting. Guards that can't shoot aren't good for much.

During Michael Jordan's two highest scoring seasons in the NBA he averaged 37.1 and 35 point per game while shooting .182 and .132 from 3 respectively. In fact, he didn't hit 30% from 3 in any of his first 5 seasons in the NBA. He did, however, average 10x as many free throw attempts as 3-point attempts during those two top seasons, and Brown has been noted as a player that is best at attacking and getting to the line.
*To be clear, I am not saying that Zach Brown is the second coming of Michael Jordon."Cotton scared me - I left him alone." - B4MSU (Bear Nation poster) in reference to heckling players
