If Brown is in the Cotton category and spends a lot of time this summer and next season working on his shot, and he has the other characteristics htown (and, obviously, WSU's coaches) have seen, we can't get his signature on the dotted line and get him on campus soon enough.

Welcome, welcome, welcome, Zach! Hope you're ready for another Shocker run to the Final Four.
Free Throw % usually tells you the shooting potential of a player. If they can shoot free throws, they'll usually become a good shooter.

    • At 6'7", I don't see him as a guard, I see him as a 3. And having been a point guard myself growing up, I can tell you it is much better if you can hit outside shots, plus being able to finish around the rim. I would say his shooting percentages are a little below average, except for his free throw percentage.

I am sure the coaching staff will be working with him, and telling him what he needs to work on to be a complete player. Where is Derail Green from, thought he was from Texas too! Is it June 3rd this year when all players have to be on campus?

      • Derail and Zach are from Houston. If all goes as planned, this will extend our long streak of having somebody from Houston on the roster. If I remember correctly, it's longer than any other team.

        • Derail played at Klein Forest, Brown at nearby Klein Collins.

As Coach Parcells likes to say, "That pancake has two sides."

The other side of the Cotton pancake is Doug Gottlieb.

              I am stunningly surprised. Wow!

              • Marcus Smart is an example of a highly rated guard with shooting issues. Smart might become a better shooter over time. Jordan became a good shooter with deep, deep range.

                • Yes, Ricky, as I said, every once in a while you'll find a guy who for whatever reason just simply can't shoot -- and can't learn how. Gottlieb was that guy.

Yes, of course you are correcto.

Nevertheless, Gottlieb was at least a two year starter at point guard for OK State.

Coach obviously had him on the floor for other skills. I am not certain, but I think the coach was Coach Sutton.

Are you comparing Zach to Doug Gottlieb? It sounds like you are and I think that you're making a big mistake. Zach's free throw percentage that is on Max Prep is 74%. You stated that he couldn't shoot by comparing him to Gottlieb. Gottlieb's free throw percentage was under 50% (44%) Gottlieb could pass but the remainder of his game was suspect. I think that Zach will become a good shooter (maybe not great but good).

Zach appears to be playing on the same team as the #2 player in the class of 2014, PG Emmanuel Mudiay. Zach is second to Mudiay in scoring on the team, tied for first in rebounding, third in assists, and first in steals.
